That's four times more people, dying in traffic accidents. Besides, experts estimate that there are 40 to 50 suicide attempts per day. The suicide rate has fallen in Switzerland since the 1980s, but it remains high compared to other European countries. Now, the Federal Office of Health (BAG) wants to find out with a study, why the suicide rate in Switzerland is so high. Based on estimates, there shall be up to 25,000 suicide attempts per year. According to surveys, every second person thinks about suicide. The Federal Government wants to achieve a better prevention with a data analysis; the "BAG" is currently evaluating the latest health survey from 2017 in order to obtain data on suicide attempts. In that survey, 20,000 participants were asked three questions about suicide. So far, the data on suicide attempts are still very patchy. "The discussion about suicide prevention has shown that we need better data," says the Head of the BAG project. Besides data analysis, care measures should be taken against suicide. The survey is part of the "Suicide Prevention Action Plan" adopted by the Federal Government in 2016; the goal is a reduction of the suicide rate. Die Suizidrate ist in der Schweiz seit den 1980er Jahren gesunken, im Vergleich zu anderen europaeischen Laendern aber weiterhin hoch. Jetzt will das Bundesamt fuer Gesundheit (BAG) mit einer Studie herausfinden, warum die Suizidrate in der Schweiz so hoch ist. Laut Schaetzungen soll es pro Jahr bis zu 25'000 Selbstmord-Versuche geben. Laut Umfragen denkt jede zweite Person ueber Selbstmord nach. Eine bessere Praevention will der Bund mit einer Daten-Analyse erreichen; das "BAG" wertet derzeit die letzte Gesundheits-Befragung aus dem Jahr 2017 aus, um Daten zu Suizid- Versuchen zu erhalten. In dieser Befragung wurden den 20'000 Teilnehmern auch drei Fragen zu Suizid gestellt. Bisher sind die Daten zu Suizid-Versuchen noch sehr lueckenhaft. "Die Diskussion ueber Suizid-Praevention hat gezeigt, dass wir bessere Daten brauchen", sagt die Leiterin des Projekts vom "BAG". Neben der Daten-Analyse soll auch mittels Betreuung gegen Selbstmord vorgegangen werden. Now the company is responding in Europe with a "PR Action", offering Germany and the United Kingdom a "No-Spy-Agreement". This means "Huawei commits itself not to release any data to the Chinese Government, transmitted by the Huawei technology". According to research by the "Tages-Anzeiger" Huawei also wants to offer the official Switzerland such an "Anti-Spy Pact". Critics, however, question the validity of such contracts. They argue that such agreements must be concluded between two countries and not between a state and a company. For a few days, Huawei has been on a blacklist by the US-Government, and "Google" had to stop working with Huawei immediately. In the future, "Google" can no longer offer Apps, Up- Dates or Services on Huawei Mobil phones. In the charm offensive of Huawei in Europe, it is about the Chinese participation in the structure of the new "5G network" too; Huawei wants to dispel fears about the disclosure of data to the Chinese state. In Germany and Great Britain, the response is very reluctant to the proposed "No-Spy- Agreement" of the Chinese. Sie argumentieren, solche Abkommen muessten zwischen zwei Laendern abgeschlossen werden und nicht zwischen einem Staat und einem Unternehmen. Seit wenigen Tagen befindet sich Huawei auf einer schwarzen Liste der US-Regierung und "Google" musste seine Zusammenarbeit mit Huawei per sofort einstellen. In Zukunft darf "Google" auf Huawei-Mobil-Telefonen keine Apps, Up- Dates oder Dienste mehr anbieten. All product categories increased and the organic (bio) market share rose to almost 10%, as "Bio Suisse" informed at the annual media conference. Around 7,100 farms are currently working according to the guidelines of "Bio Suisse". Swiss consumers bought organic food per Head and Year for 360 CHF in 2018. Organic farming accounts for 15.4% of the total agricultural land; in the flat country area it is 10% for the first time. Organic food sales rose by 13.3% in Switzerland last year; in French Switzerland, the market share reached 9.9%, the strongest increase as in the previous year. The major retailers Migros and Coop are benefiting above all from the organic boom in Switzerland; together, they sell 80% of all organic products in the country. Experts from the Swiss "EMPA" also collaborated and the results have now been published in the journal "Nature". In East China, the globally banned ozone-depleting substance "CFC-11" continues to be produced. "CFC-11" bears the major blame for the ozone depletion. The "Montreal Protocol" has been in force since 1989 and it prohibits the production of such substances. The authors of the current study studied the data from two measuring stations, one located on the South Korean island of Jeju and the second on the Japanese island of Hateruma. The emissions of the substance (CFC-11) have increased in East China since 2013 by approx. 7,000 tons per year. The emission data were investigated by the use of "Agage" monitoring network (Advanced Global Atmospheric Gases Experiment); the measuring stations on the Swiss Jungfraujoch and Hateruma are also part of it.
