He committed his whole life, especially for the homeless, drug-addicted, impoverished or sick people in the City of Zurich based on unusual methods. The late homeless-pastor was praised and dignified in the newspapers, by politicians and ordinary people for his work. His activity began the priest in the freezing winter of 1963; since then he founded various social institutions for marginalized people. He cared uncompromisingly for the disadvantaged in society; he was called "the Good Man of Zurich," a pastor "who loved humans, but not rules." As a pastor, he relied on the gospel; Ernst Sieber, like "US- evangelists", convinced more through symbols and images than through words. With his white beard and his self- manifestation, he proclaimed the image of "the Good Shepherd". The fact that his words were followed by deeds, made Sieber credible. At the end of 2017, he received the "Prix Courage Lifetime Award"; from 1991 to 1995, pastor Sieber was for the "EVP-Party" in the National Council. The motto of the Foundation of Pastor Sieber is "Deeds not Words"; today, the foundation unites 13 institutions and employs 170 staffs and 100 volunteers. An important role in the life of Pastor Sieber played his wife Sonja, with whom he raised eight children. His Christmas celebrations with side-lined persons at the Zurich Nobel- Hotel Marriott were well-known. Once a year, the homeless were allowed to eat at a white-clothed table with silverware. Sieber understood nothing of figures, but everything of humanity, wrote a newspaper. Vor einigen Tagen starb der evangelisch-reformierte Zuercher Pfarrer Ernst Sieber im Alter von 91 Jahren. Er setzte sich sein ganzes Leben mit unueblichen Methoden, besonders fuer Obdachlose, Drogen- Abhaengige, verarmte oder kranke Menschen in der Stadt Zuerich ein. Der verstorbene Obdachlosen-Pfarrer wurde in den Zeitungen, von Politikern und gewoehnlichen Menschen fuer sein Wirken gelobt und gewuerdigt. Seine Taetigkeit begann der Pfarrer im eiskalten Winter im Jahr 1963; seither gruendete er verschiedene soziale Institutionen fuer randstaendige Menschen. Er kuemmerte sich kompromisslos um die Benachteiligten der Gesellschaft; er wurde als "der gute Mensch von Zuerich" bezeichnet, ein Pfarrer "der Menschen liebte, aber nicht Regeln". Als Pfarrer berief er sich auf das Evangelium; Ernst Sieber ueberzeugte aehnlich wie "US-Evangelisten" mehr durch Symbole und Bilder als durch Worte. Mit seinem weissen Bart und seiner Selbst- Darstellung verkoerperte er das Bild "des guten Hirten". Dass er seinen Worten Taten folgen liess, machte Sieber glaubwuerdig. Ende 2017 erhielt er den "Prix Courage Lifetime Award"; von 1991 bis 1995 war Pfarrer Sieber fuer die "EVP-Partei" im Nationalrat. Das Motto der Stiftung von Pfarrer Sieber lautet "Taten statt Worte"; die Stiftung vereint heute 13 Einrichtungen und beschaeftigt 170 Mitarbeitende sowie 100 Freiwillige. Eine wichtige Rolle im Leben von Pfarrer Sieber spielte sein Frau Sonja, mit welcher er acht Kinder grosszog. Beruehmt waren seine Weihnachts-Feiern mit Randstaendigen im Zuercher Nobel- Hotel Marriott. Einmal im Jahr durften die Obdachlosen an einem weiss gedeckten Tisch mit Silber-Besteck essen. Ernst Sieber hat nichts von Zahlen, aber alles von Menschlichkeit verstanden, schrieb eine Zeitung. Schwieriger Tunnel-Bau fuer Unesco-Welt-Kultur-Erbe Linie. 世界的に知られるエンガディンのリゾート、サンモリッツからクールに通じる いわゆる「アルブラ線」は狭軌鉄道。鉄道ファンにとって、この鉄道路線はこ れまで建設された山岳鉄道の中でも特別なものだ。その特殊構造（高架橋）区 間は10年前から「ユネスコ世界遺産」に指定されている。1899年から1903年の 間に建設されたアルブラ・トンネルは標高約1,800メートルに位置している。 大量の雪解け水、岩塊の圧力と長い凍結期が鉄道トンネルに加えられてきた。 この構造物は最早今日の安全基準を満たしていない。火災時の消火設備と避難 経路は無く、通行人が緊急事態を知らせる通信手段も無い。そこで、古いトン ネルから30メートル隣に新しいトンネルの建設が決定された。旧トンネルと新 トンネルは結ばれ、旧トンネルは将来救助用トンネルとして利用出来る。プレ ダ駅とシュピナス駅の改造を含む新トンネルの建設費用は3億4,500万スイスフ ラン。新トンネルは2021年には開通する計画。極端に脆い多孔質の岩石には、 特殊な工法が求められた。「泥状」の岩盤帯は「凍結工法」が採用された。冷 却液を岩盤に注入して泥状の岩石を凍結。その後氷を掘る事が出来るが、速度 は1日75cm。この地点での爆破は不可能だった。トンネルは厚いコンクリート で裏打ちされ、冷却ユニットは再び解体された。トンネルは2018年秋までに貫 通する予定。トンネルの長さは5,865メートルで、山岳地帯で最も高地のトン ネルの一つ。 The so-called "Albula Line", is a narrow-gauge railway, which leads from Chur to the world-famous holiday resort of St. Moritz in the Engadin. For railroad friends, the rail-line is one of the unique mountain railways ever built. The section with its special structures (viaduct) has been part of the "Unesco World Cultural Heritage" for 10 years. The Albula Tunnel, built from 1899 to 1903, located at an altitude of almost 1,800 meters. Plenty of melting water, the pressure of the rock masses and long periods of frost have harmed the railroad tunnel. The building no longer complies with today's safety regulations; no fire-fighting equipment in case of fire, scarcely escape possibilities and means of communication to inform passengers in an emergency. It was decided to build a new tunnel 30 meters next to the old tunnel. Cross-tunnels connect old and new tunnel, so that the old tunnel can be used as a rescue tunnel in the future. Tunnel construction including rebuilding of the two Preda and Spinas railway stations cost CHF 345 Mio.; the new tunnel is expected to be operational by the year 2021. An extremely loose-porous rock required a special construction method. For this "muddy" rock zone, the miners chose the "freezer method". Coolant was pumped into the rock; the muddy rock was frozen by it. Afterwards you could dig through the ice, at a speed of 75 centimeters per day. Blasting would not have been possible at this spot. The tube was then lined with thick concrete hulls and the cooling units were dismantled again. The breakthrough of the tunnel is expected to take place in autumn of 2018. The tunnel has a length of 5,865 meters and is one of the highest tunnels in the Alps. Die so-genannte "Albula-Linie", ist eine Schmal-Spur-Eisenbahn, welche von Chur aus in den welt-bekannten Ferien-Ort St. Moritz im Engadin fuehrt. Fuer Eisenbahn-Freunde zaehlt die Eisenbahn-Linie zu den einzigartigen Gebirgsbahnen, die je gebaut wurden. Die Strecke mit ihren besonderen Bauwerken (Viadukt) gehoert seit zehn Jahren zum "Unesco-Welt-Kultur-Erbe". Der von 1899 bis 1903 gebaute Albula- Tunnel, liegt auf einer Hoehe von fast 1'800 Meter. Das viele Schmelz- Wasser, Druck der Gesteins-Massen und lange Frost-Perioden haben dem Eisenbahn-Tunnel zugesetzt. Das Bauwerk entspricht nicht mehr den heutigen Sicherheits-Vorschriften; keine Loesch-Einrichtungen bei einem Brand, kaum Flucht-Moeglichkeiten oder Kommunikations-Mittel um Passagiere im Notfall informieren zu koennen. Es wurde entschieden, 30 Meter neben dem alten Tunnel, einen neuen Tunnel zu bauen. Querstollen verbinden alten und neuen Tunnel, sodass der alte Tunnel in Zukunft als Rettungs-Tunnel genutzt werden kann. Tunnel-Neubau inklusive Umbau der zwei Bahnhoefe Preda und Spinas kosten 345 Mio. CHF; der neue Tunnel soll bis 2021 in Betrieb gehen koennen. Ein extrem loecherig- poroeses Gestein erforderte eine spezielle Bau-Methode. Fuer diese "schlammige" Gesteins-Zone waehlten die Tunnel-Bauer die "Methode Gefrierschrank". Es wurde Kuehlfluessigkeit in das Gestein gepumpt; das schlammige Gestein wurde damit eingefroren. Nachher konnte man durch das Eis graben; mit einer Geschwindigkeit von 75 Zentimetern pro Tag. Sprengen waere an dieser Stelle nicht moeglich gewesen. Die Roehre wurde daraufhin mit dicken Beton-Schalen ausgekleidet und die Kuehl-Aggreate wieder abgebaut. Der Durchbruch des Tunnels soll bis im Herbst 2018 erfolgen. Der Tunnel hat eine Laenge von 5'865 Meter und ist einer der hoechsten Tunnel in den Alpen. The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) only increased by 0.3% in the first quarter of 2018. The German Economy is in its ninth year of upswing; in the fourth quarter of 2017, the GDP had grown by 0.6%. The entire Euro-Area recorded a similar slow-down; Germany is now at the bottom of the league together with Italy and France. The slow-down in Germany could also slow down the Swiss Economy; for Switzerland, a growth of 2.4% is expected for this year. The German Federal Government is sticking to its optimistic growth forecast of 2.3% for 2018. German economists see (significant) "downside risks"; cooling off probably also caused the rising oil price. However, the biggest risk for the German Economy is "Donald Trump"; the US-President wants to brake imports from Germany massively. In a "Trade War" Germany would probably suffer the most. US-sanctions against Russia and Iran are also hindering European exports. The Euro crisis could revive based on a "Europe-hostile (EU)" Government in Italy. Prominent economists regard the weakening attack of the German Economy, however, only as a temporary setbacks in growth. Die deutsche Bundes-Regierung haelt an ihrer zuversichtlichen Wachstums-Prognose von 2,3% fuer 2018 fest. Deutsche Oekonomen sehen (deutliche) "Abwaerts-Risiken"; abkuehlend wirkte vermutlich auch der steigende Oelpreis. Das groesste Risiko fuer die deutsche Wirtschaft heisse jedoch "Donald Trump"; der US-Praesident will die Einfuhren aus Deutschland massiv bremsen. She was an enthusiastic supporter of US-President Ronald Reagan. Later, the lawyer took over the chairmanship of the "American Swiss Foundation", a private foundation based in New York. She initiated the "Young Leaders Conference" in 1990; aspiring Executives and Opinion Leaders from Switzerland and the USA exchanged views here. She did not call herself a "Lobbyist", but a friend of Switzerland. She met Donald Trump several times at his Florida residence. A function in the Trump- Government, however, she did not want to take over anymore. On May 21, 2018 Faith Whittlesey died at the age of 79 years. Japan's surplus in the trade with the USA rose to around 4.72 billion Euro (616 billion Yen) in April 2018, according to data from the Ministry of Finance (MOF) in Tokyo. That is an increase of 4.7% compared to the same month last year. In March, there was still a decline in the trade surplus by 0.3%. The trade deficits of the USA are an annoyance for Donald Trump. He puts pressure on the big trading partners with new customs duties or with the threat of it. The EU is exempt from US-customs duties on Steel and Aluminum imports up to June 1, 2018. Japanese companies are already affected of it. Trump criticized in the past that Japan imports too few cars from the USA. Already last year, US-President Trump requested that Japan could reduce its trade surplus with more armaments purchases in the USA.
