The US-soldiers were given the command to "Destroy and Kill everything in My Lai". Because US-soldiers often never saw their enemy, the "Viet Cong (VC)," US-soldiers accumulated anger, fear, hate, frustration, revengefulness, mistrust, and contempt against all Vietnamese, even against women and children. The village of My Lai was not full with armed Viet Cong-fighters, but there were only defenseless civilians present; that noticed also the US-soldier Kenneth Hodges, as he tells about it. He himself says, he shot two people who ran away. The US-culprits were not punished, but the USA lost its belief in the meaningfulness of the Vietnam War. Under the leadership of William Calley, a 24-years-old US-lieutenant, the soldiers murdered for hours as in a frenzy. The US-helicopter pilot Hugh Thompson can stop the massacre later with his intervention, saving nine people from death. The US-Army tried to cover up the carnage; but 1.5 years later, the truth came to light. Only US- Lieutenant Calley was convicted for the massacre; he was convicted to 3.5 years house arrest! US-journalist Seymour Hersh uncovered the war crime of My Lai; At first, US-newspapers refused to publish Hersh's report. My Lai was a turning point in the Vietnam War (1955-1975). Am 16. Maerz 1968 toeten US-Soldaten mehr als 500 Vietnamesen, mehrheitlich Kinder, Frauen und alte Maenner; das Blutbad fand im Dorf My Lai in Vietnam statt. Die US-Soldaten hatten den Befehl erhalten "Toetet und zerstoert alles in My Lai". Da die US-Soldaten ihren Feind, den "Vietcong (VC)" oft nie zu sehen bekamen, staute sich bei den US-Soldaten, Wut, Angst, Hass, Frustration, Rachsucht, Misstrauen und Verachtung gegenueber allen Vietnamesen an; sogar gegenueber Frauen und Kindern. Das Dorf My Lai war nicht voll bewaffneter Vietcong-Kaempfer, sondern es waren nur wehrlose Zivilisten da, dies merkte auch der US-Soldat Kenneth Hodges, als er darueber erzaehlt. Er selber sagt, er habe zwei Menschen erschossen, die wegrannten. Die US- Taeter wurden nicht bestraft, die USA aber verlor ihren Glauben an die Sinnhaftigkeit des Vietnam-Kriegs. Unter der Fuehrung von William Calley, einem 24-jaehrigen US-Leutnant mordeten die Soldaten stundenlang wie im Rausch. Der US-Helikopter-Pilot Hugh Thompson kann mit seinem Eingreifen das Massaker spaeter stoppen und so neun Menschen vor dem Tod retten. Die US-Armee versuchte das Massaker zu vertuschen; aber nach 1,5 Jahren kam die Wahrheit doch ans Licht. Nur US-Leutnant Calley wurde wegen des Massakers verurteilt; er erhielt 3,5 Jahre Haus-Arrest! Der US-Journalist Seymour Hersh deckte das Kriegs-Verbrechen von My Lai auf; zuerst weigerten sich die US- Zeitungen Hersh's Bericht zu publizieren. Mehr als hundert spanische Professoren fuer Strafrecht sowie mehr als eintausend Juristen haben das Vorgehen der spanischen Regierung gegen Katalonien scharf kritisiert. Sie prangerten Rechtsverstoesse und auch Verstoesse gegen die spanische Strafprozess-Ordnung an. Der deutsche Professor Axel Schoenberger sagt in einem Interview von "stern.de", "in Spanien ist die Gewalten- Teilung derzeit aufgehoben". A very recently published study in the scientific journal "Scientific Reports" shows that the largest garbage patch between Hawaii and California covers an area of about 1.6 Mio. square kilometers. The researchers analyzed aircraft pictures of the so-called "Great Pacific Garbage Patch" and examined more than 1 Mio. plastic samples from the Pacific Ocean. The results showed that the garbage dump in the Ocean has increased to about 80,000 tons of plastic waste. It has spread over an area, which is 4 to 16 times larger than previously known. The researchers assume that, among other things, the "Tsunami" in Japan in 2011 contributed to the spread of plastic waste. About 50% of the waste consists of old fishing nets or similar material; therefore, the garbage is a big threat to fish and other marine inhabitants. According to the Head of the study by "The Ocean Cleanup Foundation", the plastic concentration is on the increase and the situation is going to get worse.
