The Swiss representative at the Palestinian National Authority, Julien Thoeni, recently met with Hamas representative Jahia Sinwar in the Gaza Strip. Several days earlier, Swiss diplomats met other leaders of Hamas. The Swiss Foreign Ministry (EDA) informed that it took note of the various media reports and that it was in contact with the responsible authorities in Israel to clarify the facts and, if necessary, find a solution. The ban on Swiss diplomats was imposed by Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman, whom the media call an "extremists and hardliners". The ban on access shall remain in force until Israel receives information from Switzerland on its meetings with the Palestinian representatives. Bereits einige Tage frueher waren Schweizer Diplomanten mit anderen Fuehrern der Hamas zusammen getroffen. Das Schweizer Aussen-Ministerium (EDA) teilte mit, es nehme die verschiedenen Medien-Berichte dazu zur Kenntnis und es sei in Kontakt mit den zustaendigen Behoerden in Israel um den Sachverhalt zu klaeren sowie allenfalls eine Loesung zu finden. Das Zugangs-Verbot soll so lange in Kraft bleiben, bis Israel Erlaeuterungen von der Schweiz zu den Treffen mit den palaestinensischen Vertretern erhalte. Israel beanstandet, dass die Begegnungen oeffentlich gemacht wurden, wie das israelische Militaer- Radio berichtete. Die "Hamas" veroeffentlichte auf ihrer Internet- Seite Fotos vom Treffen mit dem Schweizer Diplomaten Thoeni. Die Schweiz unterhaelt Kontakte mit der Hamas-Fuehrung. Auf der Suche nach einer Friedensloesung und der Verteidigung der Menschenrechte pflegt die Schweiz einen Dialog mit allen am israelisch-palaestinensischen Konflikt beteiligten Parteien. A high-ranking cultural official is said to have harassed or abused women at the Swedish Academy for years. There are a total of 18 women affected, as the Swedish newspaper "Dagens Nyheter" reported in their disclosures. The women were female members of the academy, spouses or daughters of academy members or female employees. The alleged culprit is said to be a French-born photographer and director, as journalists quickly found out. He has power and status, and belongs to the "high society" of the Stockholm cultural life. He is very well networked and shall also be subsidized by the Academy. Married is the man with the distinguished writer Katarina Frostenson, who has a seat in the Academy since 1992. The accused man was even awarded a royal medal two years ago. The assaults could happen unopposed since 1996, although many knew about it! The alleged culprit denies the accusations; the Swedish Academy has now cut off all relations with this person. Certain abuses by the culprit shall have also happened in apartments in Stockholm and Paris, which the Academy had provided. The lack of transparency surrounding the decisions of the Swedish Academy favors the "law of silence". "Many depend on the goodwill of the Academy," says publisher Mr. Svante Weyler. The director of the Nobel Foundation fears that the affair could harm the "Nobel Prize". Die ehrwuerdige und angesehene Schwedische Akademie in Stockholm wird von einem Skandal um sexuelle Uebergriffe und Belaestigungen erschuettert. Ein hoch-rangiger Kultur-Funktionaer soll waehrend Jahren Frauen an der Schwedischen Akademie belaestigt oder missbraucht haben. Es seien insgesamt 18 Frauen betroffen, wie die schwedische Zeitung "Dagens Nyheter" in ihren Enthuellungen berichtet. Die Frauen seien weibliche Mitglieder der Akademie, Frauen oder Toechter von Akademie-Mitgliedern oder Mitarbeiterinnen gewesen. Beim mutmasslichen Taeter soll es sich um einen franzoesisch-staemmigen Fotografen und Regisseur handeln, wie Journalisten schnell heraus fanden. Er besitze Macht und Status und gehoere zur "High Society" des Stockholmer Kultur-Lebens. Er sei sehr gut vernetzt und werde auch von der Akademie subventioniert. Verheiratet sei der Mann mit der angesehenen Schriftstellerin Katarina Frostenson, welche seit 1992 Einsitz in der Akademie habe. Der angeschuldigte Mann wurde vor 2 Jahren sogar mit einem koeniglichen Orden ausgezeichnet. Die Uebergriffe konnten seit 1996 ungehindert passieren, obwohl viele davon wussten! Der mutmassliche Taeter streitet die Vorwuerfe ab; die Schwedische Akademie hat jetzt alle Beziehungen zu dieser Person abgebrochen. Gewisse Uebergriffe des Taeters sollen auch in Wohnungen in Stockholm und Paris, welche die Akademie zur Verfuegung gestellte hatte, passiert sein. Die Intransparenz um die Entscheidungen der Schwedischen Akademie beguenstigt das "Gesetz des Schweigens". "Viele haengen vom guten Willen der Akademie ab", sagt der Verleger Svante Weyler. The new law is intended to protect the Israeli Prime Minister from corruption investigations. The demonstrators began their protest march in "Rothschild Street 16", where in 1948 the Israeli declaration of independence was announced. The demonstrators carried signposts with the title "Crime Minister" and "Shame." According to the draft, the police should make their recommendation to the public prosecutor's office for or against an indictment after their investigations no longer public. The new law is said to be tailored in favor of Netanyahu to protect him. Under the pressure of the protests, the draft law will be changed. Netanyahu is said to be involved in two corruption cases. He is said to have received illegal gifts from wealthy businessmen. In addition, he should have tried unlawfully to influence the media reporting. The "Word of the Year" was selected by the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW), which used the largest words data base in Switzerland and the linguistic instinct of a panel of experts. The term #MeToo has rapidly widespread in a few weeks as no other word. The word brings long repressed things to light and gets together social media and public discussion. Ranked as No. 2 is the term "to trivialize" (laugh off) and Ranked as No. 3 was "Influencer". "Laugh off" is explained when a problem in the way of #MeToo is made ridiculous, so as not to face the matter. In the past, the word "influencer" was still positive. Today, it is interpreted that "Who consciously influences his followers on social media and thereby earns money, abuses trust and manipulates." The word of the year was for the first time identified multilingual, research-based and interactive in 2017.
