They had been in the hands of the kidnappers for more than three years. The girls were also referred to as the"Chibok girls" as they were kidnapped from a school in the city of Chibok in the north-east of Nigeria. There was a worldwide campaign for the release of the girls in the social media under the term "Bring back our Girls". The release came after long negotiations and thanks to Swiss mediation; the Swiss representatives never ever met directly with "Boko Haram" people, but were in contact with middlemen. Switzerland always respected the principle of neutrality and non-interference. At the request of the Nigerian Government, Switzerland participated in the negotiations for humanitarian reasons. Thanks to the Swiss mediation, 21 "Chibok students" were already released last October. The Nigerian Government released two leading members of "Boko-Harem" from the prison for the release of the 82 girls. An overall of 276 female students were kidnapped at the time, and 113 of them are believed to be still in the hands of "Boko Haram". Switzerland also offers its "Good Services" in other regions of Africa, for example in Mali. Swiss diplomats succeeded in the year 2013 that the Tuareg rebels signed an cease-fire agreement and the Swiss engaged themselves for a stabilization of Mali. Dank der Schweizer Regierung und dem Internationalen Komitee vom Roten Kreuz (IKRK) in Genf sind diese Woche 82 entfuehrte Schulmaedchen von der Extremisten-Gruppe "Boko Haram" in Nigeria freigelassen worden. Sie waren seit mehr als drei Jahren in der Hand der Entfuehrer. Die Maedchen wurde auch als "Chibok-Girls" bezeichnet, da sie aus einer Schule in der Stadt Chibok im Nord-Osten von Nigeria entfuehrt wurden. Es gab dazu eine weltweite Aktion zur Freilassung der Maedchen in den sozialen Medien unter dem Begriff "Bring back our Girls". Die Freilassung kam nach langen Verhandlungen und dank Schweizer Vermittlung zustande; die Schweizer Vertreter trafen sich nie direkt mit "Boko Haram", sondern waren im Kontakt mit Mittelsmaennern. Die Schweiz beachtete dabei stets das Prinzip der Neutralitaet und der Nicht-Einmischung. Die Schweiz beteiligte sich auf Anfrage der nigerianischen Regierung und aus humanitaeren Gruenden an den Verhandlungen. Dank Schweizer Vermittlung waren bereits im letzten Oktober 21 "Chibok-Schuelerinnen" freigekommen. Die Regierung in Nigeria entliess fuer die Freilassung der 82 Maedchen, 2 fuehrende Mitglieder von "Boko-Harem" aus dem Gefaengnis. Insgesamt wurden damals 276 Schuelerinnen entfuehrt, es wird vermutet, dass sich noch deren 113 in der Hand von "Boko Haram" befinden. Die Schweiz bietet ihre "Guten Dienste" auch in anderen Regionen von Afrika an, beispielsweise in Mali. Schweizer Diplomaten erreichten im Jahr 2013, dass die "Tuareg-Rebellen" ein Abkommen fuer einen Waffen-Stillstand unterzeichneten und setzten sich dafuer ein, das Land Mali zu stabilisieren. The 64-years-old Moon is a former human rights lawyer and co-founder of the left-liberal daily newspaper "Hankyoreh"; he is also supported by the trade unions. Moon grew up in modest circumstances in the City of Pusan. As lawyer for civil rights, he defended critics of the South Korean regime; he helped thereby the democracy movement to success. The new president stands for a greater self-esteem towards the USA and wants a South Korea, which can also say "NO" to the US-Americans! Moon Jae-in will try to make his presidency close to the people, in contrast to the former President Park, which was considered to be "big-headed". The so-called "Blue House", the distinguished presidential place, should be opened to the public, said Moon and he would like to govern at an administrative high-rise building in the center of Seoul. That is in line with Moon Jae-in, who calls his "worst characteristic", that "he is not funny." The most important task of President Moon Jae-in will be to revive the economy. The gap between the rich and the poor is in no other country in East Asia greater than in South Korea. The huge South Korean family corporations produce record high profits and yet they hardly create new jobs in the country. The youth unemployment in South Korea is almost 10%. Moon wants to govern pragmatically, to revive the dialogue with North Korea and to integrate North Korea economically. The six-party talks shall also be activated again. About US-President Donald Trump, Moon says that Trump is a pragmatist and that they will understand each other. Mit dem deutlichen Wahlsieg des Liberalen Moon Jae-in von 41,4% und einer Wahlbeteiligung von 77,2% wurde die Staatskrise nach der Absetzung der Ex-Praesidentin Park Geun-hye in Suedkorea beendet. Der 64-jaehrige Moon ist ein ehemaliger Menschenrechts-Anwalt und Mit- Begruender der links-liberalen Tageszeitung "Hankyoreh"; er wird auch von den Gewerkschaften unterstuetzt. Moon ist in bescheidenen Verhaeltnissen in der Stadt Pusan aufgewachsen. Als Anwalt fuer Buergerrechte verteidigte er Kritiker des suedkoreanischen Regime; er verhalf damit der Demokratie-Bewegung zum Erfolg. Der neue Praesident steht fuer ein groesseres Selbstbewusstsein gegenueber den USA ein und will ein Suedkorea, dass gegenueber den US-Amerikanern auch "NEIN" sagen kann! Moon Jae-in will versuchen seine Praesidentschaft volksnah zu gestalten, im Gegensatz zu Ex-Praesidentin Park, welche als "abgehoben" galt. Das so-genannte "Blaue Haus", der vornehme Praesidenten-Sitz, moechte Moon dem Publikum oeffnen und aus einem Verwaltungs-Hochhaus im Zentrum von Seoul regieren. Dies passt zu Moon Jae-in, welcher als seine "schlimmste Eigenschaft" nennt, er "sei nicht lustig". Die wichtige Aufgabe von Praesident Moon Jae-in wird es sein die Wirtschaft zu erneuern. Der Unterschied zwischen Reich und Arm ist in keinem anderen Land in Ostasien so gross wie in Suedkorea. Die riesigen suedkoreanischen Familien-Konzerne produzieren Rekord- hohe Gewinne und trotzdem schaffen sie kaum neue Stellen im Land. Die Jugend-Arbeitslosigkeit in Suedkorea betraegt beinahe 10%. Moon will pragmatisch regieren, den Dialog mit Nordkorea beleben und Nordkorea wirtschaftlich einbinden. Die Sechs-Parteien-Gespraeche sollen ebenfalls wieder aktiviert werden. The EU-Commission refused to register the Citizens' Initiative "Stop TTIP" in 2014 and declared it invalid. The EU-judges have a different opinion on this and support this legitimate and democratic debate. The judges see no illicit interference into the preparation of the free trade agreement (FTA) with the USA. The initiative called for the EU-Commission to put an end to the "TTIP negotiations". The EU-correspondent of the Swiss SRF-radio, calls the court's decision "a slap in the face of the EU- Commission" and a strengthening of the democratic rights in the European Union (EU). The EU-verdict shall be understood as a guide to democracy to the EU-Commission. In the verdict, the EU-judges strengthen the participation of the European citizens' in ongoing negotiations and political processes in general. With officially registered citizens' initiatives, the EU-citizens are given the opportunity to put their own topics on the agenda of the EU-Commission. For it, they need a million signatures. "The rejection of the initiative by the EU-Commission was arbitrary and politically motivated," say the organizers. 3.3 Mio. EU-citizens signed the initiative; according to the current EU-court ruling, it needs at least a hearing before the European Parliament. A spokesman for the organizers criticized the fact that it took two years until a verdict was given. Meanwhile the agreement "Ceta", EU with Canada was adopted. At "TTIP", the negotiations are currently blocked because Donald Trump is very critical of FTA-agreements.
