There are the Professor Reto Brun from the <Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (TPH)> in Basle and the female Professor Isabel Roditi of the <Institute of Cell Biology of the University of Berne>. With the innovative idea of the two Swiss a method shall be developed with which the so-called <trypanosomiasis> parasite can be disabled. The parasite is active in the countryside in Africa and it is passed on by the <Tsetse fly>; upon transmission to the human, it causes the deadly <African sleeping sickness>. That disease was so far treated by drugs, which however have strong side effects, which can even lead to the death of the patients. The first stage of the project was already successfully completed; the test directly on the parasite is considered as model case and out of those findings, people hope to be able to fight also other tropical diseases. Fuer ihr wegweisendes Forschungs-Projekt erhalten zwei Schweizer Forscher eine Million US-Dollar von der amerikanischen <Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF)>. Es sind dies Professor Reto Brun vom <Schweizerischen Tropen- und Public-Health-Institut (TPH)> in Basel und Professorin Isabel Roditi vom <Institut fuer Zellbiologie der Universitaet Bern>. Mit der innovativen Idee der beiden Schweizer soll eine Methode entwickelt werden, mit welcher die so-genannten <Trypanosomen Parasiten> ausgeschaltet werden koennen. Der Parasit tritt auf dem Land in Afrika auf und er wird von der <Tsetse-Fliege> uebertragen; bei der Uebertragung auf den Menschen verursacht er die toedliche <Afrikanische Schlafkrankheit>. Diese Krankheit wurde bisher mit Medikamenten behandelt, welche jedoch starke Nebenwirkungen haben, welche sogar zum Tod der Patienten fuehren koennen. Die erste Etappe des Projekts war bereits erfolgreich; der Test direkt am Parasit gilt als Modell-Versuch und aus den Erkenntnissen hofft man ebenfalls andere Tropen-Krankenheiten bekaempfen zu koennen. Japan kann bald aussterben.(Fri. 11.05.2012 Smi) 日本では人口の高齢化が進行している。日本企業「ユニチャーム」が作年の 決算で、成人用のおむつ販売が乳幼児用よりも多くなった事を発表した。 1987年に同社が成人用おむつの生産を始めて以来の出来事。同時に新しい計 算を元に、「最後の日本人の子供」は3011年5月5日に生まれる事が統計的に 考えられると、報道陣に発表された！！すなわち日本と日本人は深刻な消滅 の危機に瀕しており、現在既に65歳以上の人口は23%を占めている。現在女性 の平均寿命は86歳で、男性は80歳。仙台の東北大学大学院経済学研究科の吉 田浩教授は、日本人の段階的消滅を「人口時計」で示している。日本の出生 率は1975年に女性1人が生む子供の数の平均が2人以下になり、現在は1.35人 にまで減っている。吉田教授はこの時計で日本人に気付かせようとしている 。人々は早急に出生率低下の問題を考えなければならない。 （出典：2012年5月11日付ターゲス・アンツァイガー紙オンライン版） In Japan, the aging of the population is on the increase; the Japanese enterprise <Unicharm> informed about the sales of more nappies for adults than for infants in the last business year. That is so far unique since the company started with the manufacturing of nappies for adults in the year 1987. At the same time, it was informed in the press that based on a new calculation the <LAST Japanese Child> will be born on May 5, 3011 by a statistical view!! Japan respectively the Japanese are therefore seriously threatened from extinction; presently already 23% of the population are elder than 65 years. For women, the lifespan is actually over 86 years and regarding to men it is nearly at 80 years. Professor Yoshida Hiroshi of the <Graduate School of Economics> at the <Tohoku University> in Sendai shows the gradual extinction of the Japanese by his <population-clock>; the birthrate in Japan decreased in the year 1975 on the average of below two children per one woman and presently it is only at 1.35 children per one woman. Professor Yoshida intends to awake the Japanese by that clock; the people have to urgently reflect on the problem of the decreasing birthrate. CHF) and to save the company from bankruptcy. Through that equity holding the Government will get more than 50% voting rights of the company and based on a document, the company will therefore come under <temporary state control>. The company was granted 1.6 billion Yen (19 bn. CHF) already in the past as an advance for the payment of compensations to the victims of the disaster. The public aid are part of the rescue scheme fixed on a period of ten years; based on that plan <Tepco> shall be allowed to restart the shut down nuclear power reactors as from April 2013. <Tepco> has the <monopoly> for the power supply to the metropolitan area of Tokyo. <Tepco> President Hirose Naomi said, <<it would be a waste, if Japan handles the nuclear power as a All-or-Nothing-Problem>>. His aim is the restart of the <NPP> <Kashiwazaki-Kariwa>, which was damaged by an earthquake in 2007. Then Japan escaped only with luck a nuclear power plant disaster!! Even 14 months after Fukushima, <Tepco> has still taken no steps towards renewable energies. CHF) zu unterstuetzen und damit vor dem Bankrott zu bewahren. Durch diese Beteiligung bekommt die Regierung ueber 50% der Stimmrechte der Firma und gemaess Dokument unterliegt das Unternehmen somit der <voruebergehenden staatlichen Kontrolle>. Dem Unternehmen wurden bereits frueher 1,6 Billionen Yen (19 Mrd. CHF) zugesichert, als Vorschuss fuer Entschaedigungs-Zahlungen an die Opfer der Katastrophe. Die Staatshilfen sind Teil des auf zehn Jahre festgelegten Sanierungsplans; gemaess diesem Plan soll es <Tepco> erlaubt sein, ab April 2013 stillgelegte Atom-Reaktoren wieder in Betrieb nehmen zu duerfen. <Tepco> hat das <Monopol> fuer die Strom- Versorgung im Grossraum Tokyo. <Tepco> Praesident Hirose Naomi sagte, <<es waere eine Verschwendung, wenn Japan die Atomkraft als <Alles- oder Nichts-Problem behandelte>>. Sein Ziel ist die Wieder- Inbetriebnahme des <AKW> <Kashiwazaki-Kariwa>, welches im 2007 von einem Erdbeben beschaedigt wurde. Damals entging Japan nur mit Glueck einer Nuklear-Katastrophe!! He works since 2006 at the restaurant <Eleven Madison Park> in New York as chef; <his restaurant> has three Michelin-stars and it is ranked as number ten on the <Ranking list of the 50 best restaurants of the World>. The Swiss remains modest and said: <<Awards are given for the work of yesterday, not for that of tomorrow>>. You have to stay concentrated and work hard, despite the award. Presently, the project for the solar power plant with a surface of 2,500 square- meters is at the local building authority; the parking-lots of the company will be roofed (carports) and on it the major part of the 1,112 high-tech solar panels of the company <Oerlikon Solar> will be installed. Additionally, 455 solar panels will be placed on the roof of the warehouse; a photovoltaic plant will be built based on the project of the company <Basler & Hofmann>. The annual performance of the plant amounts to 196,000 watts and an amount of current of 179,000 kilo-watt-hours (kWh) was calculated. That corresponds to the power consumption of 50 average households; the company <Sauber> will use the current for its own purpose. The project is a one measure within the scope of the certification for the <Environment-Management>. The idea to change parking-lots into <carports> and to install solar panels on the top could become a <model>. Companies remain more flexible with that method instead of occupying roofs with solar panels for years. The <Solar-Park> shall be taken into operation even this summer. Schweizer Katastrophen-Uebung mit 6'000 Toten. (Wed. 09.05.2012 Smi) 今週バーゼル地方で3日間にわたって大地震の凄惨なシナリオ死者6,000人、 生き埋め30,000人、負傷者63,000人、損壊家屋750,000棟、家を失った人 750,000人を国際指針で訓練を実施した。訓練「SEISMO 12」は「連邦民間防 衛局（BABS）」の指揮で、1356年にバーゼルで起きた歴史的地震を想定して 行われた。訓練は非常に実践的に行われ、様々な部署の共同作業が災害時に どれ程上手く機能するか検証された。訓練の管理者は、参加者が不測の事態 に継続的に協力しなければならなくなる事を確認する。最終的に1,600人以 上が参加、審判は訓練を観察し、最終報告書をまとめる。スイスではおよそ 100年に一度震度6程度の被害をもたらす局地的な地震が予想され、1,000年 に一度震度6.5から7の破壊的な地震が起きる可能性が有る。 （出典：2012年5月8日付ターゲス・ア ンツァイガー紙） During three days this week, the frightful scenario of a powerful earthquake with 6,000 dead people, 30,000 buried, 63,000 injured and 750,000 damaged buildings and 750,000 homeless persons was conducted within the scope of an international rod-frame exercise in the region of Basle. The exercise <SEISMO 12> under the leadership of the Swiss Federal Office for Population Protection (BABS) is based on the historic earthquake of Basle in the year 1356. The exercise is regarded as very realistic; it will be tested how well the co- operation with the different authorities works in case of a disaster. The management of the exercise makes sure that the participants of the drill will have to continuously cope with unscheduled happenings. Overall more than 1,600 persons participate on it; arbiters monitor the exercise and there will be a final report. In Switzerland, about every 100 years a local earthquake with damage and a magnitude of 6 has to be expected; about every 1,000 years a disastrous earthquake with a magnitude of 6.5 to 7 is possible. Diese Woche wurde in der Region Basel waehrend drei Tagen das schreckliche Szenario eines schweren Erdbebens mit 6 000 Toten, 30 000 Verschuetteten, 63 000 Verletzten und 750 000 beschaedigten Gebaeuden und 750 000 Obdachlosen im Rahmen einer internationalen Stabs-Rahmen- Uebung durchgefuehrt. Die Uebung <SEISMO 12> unter Fuehrung des <Bundesamts fuer Bevoelkerungsschutz (BABS)> basierte auf dem historischen Erdbeben von Basel aus dem Jahre 1356. Die Uebung gilt als sehr realistisch; es wird untersucht wie gut die Zusammenarbeit der verschiedenen Stellen im Katastrophen-Fall funktioniert. Die Uebungsleitung sorgt dafuer, dass die Teilnehmer der Uebung fortlaufend unvorhergesehene Ereignisse zu bewaeltigen haben. Insgesamt sind mehr als 1 600 Personen beteiligt; Schiedsrichter ueberwachen die Uebung und es gibt einen Schlussbericht. In der Schweiz muss zirka alle 100 Jahre mit einem lokalen Erdbeben mit Schaden der Staerke 6 und zirka alle 1 000 Jahre mit einem zerstoererischen Erdbeben der Staerke 6,5 bis 7 gerechnet werden. About one year after the disastrous earthquake in Japan, the Group could increase its turnover by 23% onto 55 bn. Euros and the profit went up to about 1.16 bn. Euros in the first quarter of 2012; regarding to the profit, the result is a quadruplicating compared to the period of the previous year.
