For that purpose, more than 15,000 solar panels will be installed on the roofs of four exhibition halls; as from 2012 the plant will cover the energy demand of 1,200 households in the Canton of Geneva. 80% of the overall 60,000 square meters sized surface can be used for that project. The construction cost will amount to about 15 Mio. Swiss Francs and the photovoltaic power plant shall produce 4,2 megawatt (MW) electricity per year. The cost for the solar electricity is only 33 centimes (approx. Yen 31) per kilowatt hour (kWh). The constitution of the Canton of Geneva prohibits the use of nuclear energy already since the eighties (1980); Geneva has therefore taken over a leading role in the field of renewable energies. Additionally, he explained that there were no safety problems in that field. Such a statement astonished because presently 80% of the Japanese population votes for an immediate or stepwise pullout from the use of nuclear power. The governors of the individual prefectures presently <resist> authorizing the re-start of operation of the nuclear power plants. Presently the Ministry of <METI> conducts an <information campaign>, in which is emphasized that the nuclear power plants will be safe in the future. It is said that the authorities <had learnt the lessons of the past> meaning from the accident in Fukushima; they say that Japan needs the nuclear powered electricity, because renewable energies are called <unreliable>!! According to <official information>, the nuclear powered electricity cost Japan 5.3 Yen per kilowatt-hour (kWh); that would be incredibly cheap. The director of the <Institute for sustainable energy (ISEP)> in Japan, Tetsunari Iida calls that figure a <pure fiction> (fantasy). He points out that the cost for the recycling of the used nuclear fuel rods and the clearing up work in Fukushima are not taken into account (unaccounted) in that calculation!! According to <Iida-san>, the Japanese Ministry <METI> has refused to disclose on which principles (calculation base) the cost amount of 5.3 Yen actually is based on. These substances, which are also known under the term <REY> (Rare Earth and Yttrium), are in particular used by the Energy-, Telecommunication- and Entertainment Industry etc. The group of researchers analyzed 2,037 soil samples on 78 sites in the Pacific Ocean; on certain locations in the sea, the sea-mud had a particularly large concentration of <Rare Earth> substances. According to the report of the group by Professor Kato, published in the journal <Nature Geoscience>, those findings are considered to be very significant and the sea-mud could become a successful and large supplier of raw material for those <REY> elements. The concentration (level) of <REY> shall partly have reached the double of the sources found in China. Presently, there shall not exist an approved technology, of which such sea-mud could be delivered to the surface. Taking photographs inside is allowed, except for the pictures. Inside, there are two tea houses where Japanese maccha tea is offered. We sat down at the tea house with direct view to the landscape garden. The water for the macchia is boiled in a kettle made of pure gold; that makes the taste unique and delicious. For a quiet and enjoyable visit of the museum including the current exhibition you should reserve at least two hours. We were lucky to see the exhibition of the very famous Japanese painter Taikan Yokoyama; his masterpieces are exhibited in the public only about every ten years. The impressive Japanese garden embedded in the surrounding nature & environment remains unforgettable; the garden might however be slightly too perfect.
