Coffee beans, which are elaborated on higher altitude (such as mountains) shall have been roasted particularly gently, thanks to the high altitude. Here in the Swiss mountains not only expensive, exclusive coffee brands such as <Jamaica Blue Mountain> etc. are roasted, but the legendary, most expensive coffee of the world with the name <Kopi Luwak> from Indonesia is produced. In Russia and in Japan the <Kopi Luwak> is regarded as a particular, expensive delicacy; in the Russian department store <GUM> in Moscow, one kilogram of the <Kopi Luwak> cost about SFr.1,000 (ca. Yen 86,000). In Switzerland, one kilogram of that coffee cost SFr. 325 and it can be drunk only at very few places, whereat the price for a cup of <Kopi Luwak> coffee amounts to up to SFr. 20. The origin of the coffee goes back to the red coffee-cherries and the civet cat, which lives wild on certain Indonesian islands. The Swiss coffee house maintains already since 1971 a long-standing relationship with the Indonesian farmers. Kaffeebohnen, welche in erhoehten Lagen (Bergen) verarbeitet werden, sollen dank der Hoehenlage besonders schonend geroestet sein. Hier in den Schweizer Bergen werden nicht nur teure, exklusive Kaffeesorten wie zum Beispiel <Jamaica Blue Mountain> etc. geroestet, sondern der geheimnisvolle, teuerste Kaffee der Welt mit dem Namen <Kopi Luwak> aus Indonesien wird hier hergestellt. In Russland und Japan ist der <Kopi Luwak> eine besonders teuere Delikatesse; im russischen Warenhaus <GUM> in Moskau kostet ein Kilogramm des <Kopi Luwak> zirka SFr. 1 000 (ca. Yen 86 000). In der Schweiz kostet ein Kilogramm dieses Kaffee SFr. 325 und er kann nur an wenigen Orten getrunken werden, wobei der Preis fuer eine Tasse Kaffee <Kopi Luwak> bis zu SFr. 20 betraegt. Der Ursprung des Kaffee liegt bei den roten Kaffeekirschen und der Zibet-Katze, welche wild auf einzelnen indonesischen Inseln lebt. (Quelle: NZZ vom 13.12.2010 & Badilatti) http://www.cafe-badilatti.ch/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kopi_Luwak 2) 日本の新しい公式漢字 New official Japanese characters (Kanji) (Wed. 15.12.2010 Smi) Neue offzielle japanische Schriftzeichen (Kanji) 毎年日本で選ばれる「今年の漢字」には、思った以上の深い意味がある。今 年は「暑」が選ばれた。今年の夏から初秋にかけて日本を襲った猛暑の影響 は深刻だった。農業と熊が特に打撃を受けた。野菜の価格高騰や森のベリー の不足などの現象が見られた。「今年の漢字」は日本では教育的効果があり 、日本人は有益で便利な文字である漢字を大切にしなければならないことに 気付かされる。漢字が読めない者は、とりわけ教養がないとみなされる。日 本の文部科学省はどの漢字が常用漢字かを定めている。第二次世界大戦終了 以来、常用漢字は1,945文字で、小学校で1,006字学習する。日本政府が実施 する最高難度の漢字能力試験では、6,000の漢字がテストされる。29年ぶり に政府が定める常用漢字が改定され、5字が削除され、196字が付け加えられ た。新たに付け加えられたのは「爪」「尻」「呪」や「鬱」などの病気を表 す漢字。（2010年12月15日ターゲス・アンツァイガー紙より） The annual predestination of the <Character of the YEAR> (Kanji of the YEAR) has a deeper meaning as one might think. This year (2010), the character <Hot> (sho) was chosen as <Kanji of the Year>; the heat wave this summer and in early autumn caused little joy in Japan! The agriculture and the bears suffered particularly severe under the heat; high prices for vegetables and not enough berries in the forests were only some consequences. The <Kanji of the YEAR> shall activate however an educational impact in Japan; therewith the Japanese citizens are reprimanded to cultivate the valuable and practical characters (Kanji). It is considered as uneducated if one cannot read <Kanji> among other things. The Japanese Ministry of Education has determined, which <Kanji> are part of the standard lettering; there are a total of 1945 <Kanji> since the end of the war. At the elementary school, there are a total of 1,006 characters to be learnt; within the scope of the most difficult Kanji-test of the Japanese Government, however a total of 6,000 Kanji are tested. For the first time since 29 years, the official <Kanji-list> had been modified, in which five Kanji had been deleted from it and 196 Kanji were added to it. New official Kanji are for instance: the finger nail, the bottom, the curse etc. as well as names of some illness such as depression. Die jaehrliche Auserwaehlung des <Schriftzeichen des Jahres> (Kanji oft he Year) hat eine tiefere Bedeutung als man denkt. Dieses Jahr wurde das Schriftzeichen <Heiss> (Sho) zum <Kanji of the Year> bestimmt; die Hitzewelle diesen Sommer und Früh-Herbst bereitete in Japan wenig Freude! Die Landwirtschaft und die Baeren litten besonders stark unter der Hitze; hohe Preise fuer Gemuese und nicht genug Beeren in den Waeldern waren einzelne Auswirkungen. Das <Kanji of the Year> soll jedoch in Japan auch eine erzieherische Wirkung ausloesen; damit werden die Japaner ermahnt die wertvollen und praktischen Schriftzeichen (Kanji) zu pflegen. Es gilt als ungebildet, wenn man <Kanji> unter anderem nicht lesen kann. Das japanische Erziehungs- Ministerium legt fest, welche <Kanji> zur Standardschrift gehoeren; es sind deren 1945 <Kanji> seit Ende des Krieges. In der Grundschule sind deren 1006 Zeichen zu lernen; beim schwierigsten Kanji-Test der japanischen Regierung werden jedoch 6000 <Kanji> geprueft. Erstmals seit 29 Jahren wurde die amtliche <Kanji-Liste> angepasst, wobei fuenf Kanji gestrichen und 196 hinzugefuegt wurden. (Quelle: Tages-Anzeiger vom 15.12.2010) http://www.kanken.or.jp/event/index.html http://www.mext.go.jp/ 3) 外国人登録証に生体情報（チップ） (Fri. 17.12.2010 Smi) Biometric data (chip) for foreigner identification card Biometrische Daten (Chip) fuer Auslaenderausweis スイス政府は必要な法的素地を整え、2011年1月24日に施行される。外国人 登録証には今後、登録証保持者の写真と二つの指紋が記録されたデータチッ プが埋め込まれる。この措置により、不法入国や不法滞在に対処できる。デ ータは5年間保存され、「中央移民情報システム」が管理する。そのため、 新たにデータを採取せずに、登録証を更新することができる。スイスの滞在 許可B、またはLを持っている外国人が対象となる。スイスの滞在許可がある 、EUと EFTA以外からの外国人には、2008年から生体情報が装填されている、 シェンゲン域内同一規格の証明書が交付されている。 （2010年 12月17日付けターゲス・アンツァイガー紙、及びAdmin.chより） The Swiss Government (Federal Council) has fixed the necessary, legal basic principles and those will be implemented (enforced) on January 24, 2011. Identification cards for foreigners will be equipped with a <data chip> in the future, on which a photograph and two fingerprints of the holder are recorded. With that alteration the illegal immigration and the unlawful residence in Switzerland shall be battled. The data will be stored for five years and kept in the national <Central Migration Information System> (ZEM IS). The identification cards can then be renewed without another data recording; affected from that are identification cards of persons with a permit B or L in Switzerland. Nationals from outside the EU and the EFTA with a right of residence for Switzerland receive already since 2008 a standard <Schengen-compliant> ID-card, which has to include also biometric data too. Die Schweizer Regierung (Bundesrat) legte dazu die notwendigen, gesetzlichen Grundlagen fest und diese werden per 24. Januar 2011 in Kraft treten. Auslaenderausweise werden inskuenftig mit einem <Daten- Chip> versehen sein, auf welchem ein Foto und zwei Finger-Abdruecke des Inhabers gespeichert sind. Mit dieser Neuerung sollen die illegale Einwanderung und unrechtmaessige Aufenthalte in der Schweiz bekaempft werden. Die Daten werden waehrend fuenf Jahren aufbewahrt und im <Zentralen Migrations-Informations-System (ZEMIS) gespeichert. Die Ausweise koennen damit ohne eine weitere Datenerfassung erneuert werden; davon betroffen sind Ausweise fuer Personen mit einer Bewilligung B oder L in der Schweiz. Staatsangehoerige ausserhalb der EU und der EFTA mit einer Aufenthaltsberechtigung fuer die Schweiz bekommen seit 2008 einen einheitlichen <Schengen- konformen> Ausweis, welcher ebenfalls biometrische Daten aufweisen muss. Giornale del Popolo in Giapponese (auf Japanisch) (Fri. 17.12.2010 Smi) スイスのイタリア語圏ティチーノ州の新聞「ジョルナール・デル・ポポロ」 は、木曜日、第一面が日本語で発行された。（ウェブサイトのPdf ファイル 参照）「ニッポン、日本の芸術と文化」イヴェントの一環で、2011年2月末 までルガーノで開催されている日本人芸術家の4つの特別展が、この異例な 発行の引き金となった。同新聞はルガーノ司教区に主な所有権があり、今ま で保守的だとされてきた。ルガーノ市はこの特別キャンペーンで、ユニーク な特別展に市民の関心を喚起する意向。 （2010年12月17日付けターゲス・アンツァイガー紙より） The Ticino (Swiss-Italian) newspaper <Giornale del Popolo> published on Thursday its front-page in Japanese (look at the Pdf-file of the website; link); the reason for that unusual publication are four exhibitions of Japanese artists, which are going to take place up to the end of February 2011 in Lugano, within the scope of an event with the name <Nippon, art and culture of Japan>. Die Zeitung ist mehrheitlich im Eigentum des Bistums Lugano (der Kirche) und galt bis anhin eher als konservative Zeitung; die Stadt Lugano will mit dieser Aktion auf die einmalige Veranstaltung hinweisen. The military concept plans improvements or a strengthening in the field of intelligence and reconnaissance (I&R) and the missile defense, at which new air- and marine units shall be created. Besides, the number of submarine boats shall be increased from presently 16 to 22 boats. In the strategy paper, which covers a period of five years, the importance of the alliance with the USA is emphasized too. The concept fulfils therefore all (former) requests of the USA, in particular with regard to the military presence in the East-China Sea. The new, Japanese military units shall be stationed, according to the Kan Government, on the island of Okinawa, even though the local people resist already today against the US-military bases! The published defense concept is therefore temporarily considered only as a <guidelines-paper> of a Government, which loses nearly daily the support from the population. Presently, the approval rate for the Government of Kan Naoto reaches only 21%. Das japanische Kabinett verabschiedete diese Woche eine neue Verteidigungs-Strategie, welche den Zweck hat, sich inskuenftig praeziser auf moegliche Konflikte und Bedrohungen aus Nachbarlaendern wie Nordkorea und China vorzubereiten. Das militaerische Konzept sieht Verbesserungen oder eine Verstaerkung im Bereich der Aufklaerung und der Raketenabwehr vor, wobei neue Luft- und Marine-Einheiten geschaffen werden sollen. Ausserdem soll die Anzahl der Untersee-Boote von 16 auf 22 vergroessert werden. Im Strategiepapier, welches eine Periode von fuenf Jahre abdeckt, wird zudem die Bedeutung des Buendnis mit den USA betont. Das Konzept erfuellt damit alle (frueheren) Forderungen der USA, insbesondere in Bezug auf die militaerische Gegenwart in der Ostchinesischen See. Die neuen, japanischen Militaer- Einheiten sollen gemaess der Regierung Kan auf Okinawa stationiert werden, obwohl sich die lokale Bevoelkerung bereits heute gegen die US-Militaer-Stuetzpunkte wehrt! Das praesentierte Verteidigungskonzept wird deshalb vorlaeufig nur als <Richtlinien-Papier> einer Regierung betrachtet, welche fast taeglich an Unterstuetzung aus der Bevoelkerung verliert. Aktuell betraegt die Zustimmung fuer die Regierung Kan noch 21%. The questioned persons could choose the five most important subjects among a choice of 35 sorrows; the question regarding to the financial crisis was integrated into the survey the first time in 2009. Here a summary of the results and the sorrows of the Swiss citizens. The figure in bracket gives the percentage in the previous year. The biggest sorrow remains the unemployment with 76% (66%), and then follows the retirement provisions with 45% (36%), the health care with 41% (36%), the social safety with 37% (31%), the foreigners- (question) with 31% (23%), the personal safety (crime) with 28% (25%), the European integration with 23% (12%) etc. The sorrow with regard to the integration of foreigners and the freedom of movement and residence of people has advanced from rank number 8 to newly rank number 5 in the CS-Barometer. Die Befragten konnten aus einer Auswahl von 35 Sorgen, die fuenf wichtigsten auswaehlen, wobei die Frage zur Finanzkrise erstmals im 2009 aufgenommen wurde. There were a total of about 2,000 photographs taken part in the contest so that the contest <Pictures of the Research> has developed into the biggest German event in that field. In 2010 again professional photographers and amateurs participated on it; there was a prize endowed with 20,000 Euros to be won. The Swiss photographer Martin Oeggerli won the first prize in the category <Fascination Research> with his photograph titled: <What makes cancer to become cancer?>. The picture shows a prostate-carcinoma cell, which often develops metastases in the bone marrow. Bereits das sechste Mal suchte und praemierte das deutsche Nachrichten-Magazin <FOCUS> und der <Verband der forschenden Pharma- Unternehmen (vfa)> die besten Wissenschafts-Fotografien. Es wurden ungefaehr 2 000 Bilder (Fotos) eingereicht und damit hat sich der Wettbewerb <Bilder der Forschung> zu einem der groessten deutschen Veranstaltungen in diesem Bereich entwickelt. Im 2010 beteiligten sich wiederum professionelle Fotografen und Amateure am Wettbewerb; es gibt insgesamt 20 000 Euro zu gewinnen. Last night, we drunk a glass of delicious Japanese <Go-ichi> wine at the meal; we had ordered the wine in advance from the Japanese Hayashi winery in the town of Shiojiri (Nagano-ken) by Online shopping. When in Japan, guests such as us want to drink the local specialty, such as local Japanese wines. Unfortunately, most Japanese hotels and Ryokans have still not realized that Japan produces nowadays high quality and delicious Japanese wines. That is why mostly only foreign wines, from France, South America etc. are on the menu. Upon my taste, such wine is not delicious and tasty at all, it is just expensive. On the other hand, if you can enjoy the local produced Japanese wine, we were all the time amazed by its high quality and delicious taste. It meets the Japanese kitchen perfectly.
