The organization is considered to be the <United Nations of Energy>; it has a history of more than 80 years, but even though it is less known to the general public. The Swiss intends to improve the perception of that body, which supplies important answers to questions regarding to energy. The new Secretary General studied at the ETH Zurich and at the University of Geneva; later he made his doctorate at the EPFL Lausanne. The last years he worked at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Geneva. Anfangs April dieses Jahrs wurde der 40-jaehrige Christoph Frei als erster Schweizer Generalsekretaer des Welt-Energierats (World Energy Council) mit Sitz in London (UK). Die Organisation, welche als <Vereinigte Nationen fuer Energie> bezeichnet wird, hat eine Geschichte von ueber 80 Jahren, ist aber dennoch einer breiten Oeffentlichkeit zu wenig bekannt. Der Schweizer will die Wahrnehmung dieses Gremiums, welches wichtige Antworten zu Energiefragen liefert, verbessern. Der neue Generalsekretaer studierte an der ETH Zuerich und an der Universitaet Genf; spaeter machte er sein Doktorat an der EPFL Lausanne. Besides, the statistical office published a ranking list of the most favorite first names in Switzerland in the same year (2008). Swiss apparently love first names starting with the letter L; regarding to girls, the names Lara, Lena and Laura and regarding to boys the names Leon and Luca made the top of the ranking list in the past three years. The most popular name in 2008 was Lara for girls and Tim for boys. In the French part, the name Emma for girls is the number one already since 2006, ahead of Chloé and Eva. Regarding to boys, the name Nathan is ahead of Luca, Lucas and Maxime. In the south of Switzerland, the ranking list for 2008 is as follows: for girls, Giulia, Martina and Alice, and for Boys Alessandro, Matteo and Leonardo are on the top. Das statistische Amt veroeffentlichte zudem eine Rangliste ueber die beliebtesten Vornamen in der Schweiz im gleichen Jahr (2008). Schweizer lieben anscheinend Vornamen, welche mit dem Buchstaben L beginnen; bei Maedchen waren es die Namen, Lara, Lena und Laura und bei den Knaben Leon und Luca, welche sich seit den letzten drei Jahren an der Spitze der Rangliste befinden. Der beliebteste Name im 2008 war Lara bei Maedchen und bei Knaben Tim. In der Westschweiz ist Emma bei Maedchen die Nummer eins seit dem Jahr 2006, vor Chloé und Eva. There is a major demand inside Switzerland, but also from abroad for articulated trolley buses for the public transport system. Four year ago, the company developed a new model a double joint trolley bus <LighTram> (light tram) with a length of 25 meters and a capacity for 200 passengers. The product cost about 1,5 Mio. SFr. and already more than 50 items were sold. The trolley buses are operated by electricity and are in operation in Zurich, Geneva, Lucerne, and St. Gallen. Presently, there is a delivery date of about 18 months. Every third bus is exported to abroad. In certain countries, the company has a co-operation with licensees. Das Schweizer Familien-Unternehmen Hess AG mit Sitz in Bellach (SO) produziert umwelt-freundliche Transportmittel fuer den oeffentlichen Verkehr, welche sich derzeit grosser Beliebtheit erfreuen. Es besteht eine sehr grosse Nachfrage aus der Schweiz, aber auch aus dem Ausland nach Gelenk-Trolleybusse fuer den OeV (oeffentlichen Verkehr). Vor vier Jahren wurde eines neues Modell entwickelt, der Doppelgelenk-Trolleybus LighTram (leichtes Tram) mit einer Laenge von 25 Metern und einer Kapazitaet fuer 200 Passagiere. Das Produkt kostet zirka 1,5 Mio. SFr und es wurden bereits mehr als 50 Exemplare verkauft. Die Trolleybusse werden mit Elektrizitaet betrieben und sind in Zuerich, Genf, Luzern, St. Gallen in Betrieb. Derzeit bestehen Lieferfristen von zirka 18 Monaten; jeder dritte Bus wird ins Ausland exportiert. In gewissen Laendern wird mit Lizenzpartnern zusammen gearbeitet. (Fri. 14.08.2009 Smi) Murakami Haruki, ein Wirtschaftsfaktor fuer Japan? 村上春樹の新作小説「1Q84」（日本語では1984と読むことができる）が、日 本でベストセラーとなっている。全二巻の同小説が2009年5月に発売されて から、200万部も売れている。この本のタイトルは、ジョージ・オーウェル の小説「1984」にちなんでいる。出版社の「新潮社」にとっては、高い販売 数は財政的に重要な意味を持つ。村上春樹がイスラエルで文学賞を受賞した ことは、村上とその作品をいっそう有名にした。「エルサレム賞」受賞に関 しては、日本では批判的な声も上がっている。村上春樹の新作についてのジ ャーナリストの記事からは、文学的な質と小説の中身がどのように評価され ているか、判断することはできない。 （2009年8月14日付けターゲス・アンツァイガー・オンラインより） The new novel <1Q84>, (can be pronounced in Japanese as 1984) of Murakami Haruki has developed into a bestseller in Japan; since it was published in May 2009, more than two million copies of the novel with two volumes were sold. His book title refers to the classical novel with the name <1984> of George Orwell. For the publishing house <Shinchosha>, the high numbers of sales have definitely an economical significance. The awarding of a literature prize in Israel to the Japanese author led to additional publicity regarding to his person and his book. Because of the acceptance of the <Jerusalem Prize>, critical voices came up too in Japan regarding to the author. Based on the newspaper article of the journalist about the new book of Murakami Haruki, one cannot recognize a statement how (the journalist) evaluates the literary quality and the content of the novel! Der neue Roman <1Q84> (kann auf japanisch als 1984 ausgesprochen werden) von Murakami Haruki entwickelt sich in Japan zu einem Verkaufsschlager; seit dem Erscheinen im Mai 2009 wurden vom Roman in zwei Baenden mehr als zwei Millionen Exemplare verkauft. Mit seinem Buchtitel folgt er dem klassischen Roman mit dem Namen <1984> von George Orwell. Fuer den Buchverlag <Shinchosha> haben die hohen Verkaufszahlen durchaus eine wirtschaftliche Bedeutung. Die Verleihung eines Literaturpreises in Israel an den japanischen Autor fuehrte zu zusaetzlicher Publizitaet um seine Person und sein Werk. Wegen der Annahme des <Jerusalem Prize> hoerte man in Japan aber auch kritische Stimmen gegenueber dem Schriftsteller. Swiss Francs. Even though the economy has strongly collapsed, the earnings are less below the budget as it was expected. The expenses shall be even lower than planned according to the budget. The development of the economy has reacted primary delayed regarding to the direct Federal Tax. Regarding to the value added tax (VAT) however, the impacts can be seen immediately; regarding to tax receipts, a decline of 1,4 billion Swiss Francs is expected. One billion of the amounts are allotted to the VAT. Basierend auf einer Hochrechnung des Eidgenoessischen Finanz- departements (EFD) wird fuer die Schweizer Staatsrechnung im Jahr 2009 mit einem Ueberschuss von 400 Mio. Schweizer Franken gerechnet. Obwohl die Wirtschaft stark eingebrochen ist, liegen die Einnahmen weniger stark unter dem Voranschlag als dies erwartet wurde. Die Ausgaben sollten sogar tiefer als gemaess Budget geplant ausfallen. Depending on the cantons, different kind of hygiene measures and recommendations has been enacted; ceremonies for the opening of the new school year were partly cancelled, students learn how to wash their hands correctly, doorknobs etc. are frequently disinfected and parents received emergency leaflets. Children, pregnant women and sick persons have an increased risk; in one case, a young mother at hospital was apparently infected the swine flu virus by visitors. Presently, 724 cases of the influenza H1N1 were confirmed in Switzerland and daily about 20 to 30 (new) cases are recorded. The National Commission on Vaccination (EKIF) has recommended tentatively, vaccinating only risk groups as soon as the vaccine will be available in October. The Federal Office of Health (BAG) expects that when the influenza wave breaks out, there will be an additional 400,000 consultations. In a first phase, 1,2 Mio. to 2 Mio. people can be vaccinated; as soon as sufficient vaccine will be available, the healthy people can be vaccinated too. In der Schweiz haben in fast allen Kantonen die Schulen nach den langen Sommerferien wieder begonnen. Je nach Kanton traten unterschiedliche Hygiene-Massnahmen und Empfehlungen in Kraft; Zeremonien zum Start des Schuljahrs wurden teilweise abgesagt, Schueler lernen korrektes Haendewaschen, Tuerklinken usw. werden haeufig desinfiziert und Eltern erhielten Merkblaetter. Kinder, Schwangere und Kranken haben ein erhoehtes Risiko; in einem Fall wurde eine junge Mutter im Krankenhaus offenbar von Besuchern mit dem Schweinegrippe-Virus angesteckt. Derzeit wurden in der Schweiz 724 Faelle der Grippe H1N1 bestaetigt und taeglich kommen 20 bis 30 Faelle neu dazu. Die Eidgenoessische Impfkommission (EKIF) empfiehlt vorlaeufig nur die Impfung fuer Risikogruppen, sobald der Impfstoff im Oktober bereit ist. Das Bundesamt fuer Gesundheit (BAG) erwartet bei Ausbruch der Grippewelle zirka 400 000 zusaetzliche Arztbesuche! In einer ersten Phase koennen 1,2 Mio . bis 2 Mio. As a rule, those insects are noticed only as from the middle of August; this year however, they seem to have arrived already. Wasps feel attracted by proteins (e.g. sausage) and carbohydrate (e.g. sweets). Wasps react on smells, whereas strong perfumes and sweat makes them aggressive. Colored garments can make wasps nervous too; generally, the insects sting however only when they feel threatened (information of the insect researcher Beat Wermelinger of the research institute WSL). There are many so-called household remedies how to act against wasps. It can become dangerous for people who have an allergy of wasps-or bee's stings; that number of people is about 3% to 4%. In Switzerland, two to five people die a year due to a sting of a wasp or bee. Es wird gesagt, dass <ein warmer Fruehling viele Wespen bringt>; dies scheint zu stimmen. In der Regel bemerkt man diese Tiere erst ab Mitte August; dieses Jahr sollen sie jedoch bereits da sein. Wespen fuehlen sich insbesondere durch Proteine (z.B. Bratwurst) und Kohlenhydrate (z.B. Suessigkeiten) angezogen. Wespen reagieren besonders auf Gerueche, wobei sie bei starkem Duftstoff (Parfuem) und Schweiss aggressiv werden. Farbige Kleidungsstuecke koennen Wespen ebenfalls nervoes machen; grundsaetzlich stechen die Tiere jedoch nur dann, wenn sie sich bedroht fuehlen. Gefaehrlich wird es fuer Leute, welche allergisch auf Wespen- oder Bienenstiche reagieren; dies sind 3% bis 4% der Menschen. In der Schweiz sterben pro Jahr zwei bis fuenf Personen an einem Wespen- oder Bienenstich. (Quelle: Tages-Anzeiger vom 13.08.2009) http://www.initiative-insektengift.ch (detaillierte Information) http://www.ahaswiss.ch 8) ツューリッヒ陪審員裁判を廃止 Abolishment of court with a jury in Zurich Abschaffung Geschworenengericht in Zuerich (Fri. 14.08.2009 Smi) スイスでは2011年1月1日から国政レヴェルで新しい刑事裁判法と民事裁判法 が施行される。国の法体系は州法より上位にあって優先される。この為ツュ ーリッヒ州では裁判の運用法を改訂しなければならなくなり、控訴審と陪審 員制度を廃止することになる。この事はツューリッヒ州の裁判所の簡素化に もなる。陪審員制度は1967年から行われており、控訴審は136年の歴史があ るが、両方の裁判共長らく評価が分かれてきた。素人が陪審の権利を語る事 は、最早時機を得ているとはみなされていない。 （出典：2009年8月14日付ターゲス・アンツァイガー紙） In Switzerland, the new Swiss code of criminal procedure and the new code of civil procedure will be enacted nationwide as from January 1st, 2011. Those legal systems are superior to the cantonal legal laws that mean the national state law comes first. In the Canton of Zurich, the law of practice has to be newly adjusted; that leads to the abolishment of the court of appeal (cassation) and the court with a jury. That measure brings a simplification of the cantonal judicial authorities in the Canton of Zurich. The court with a jury dates back to 1967 and the court of cassation is 136 years old; both courts were considered as contested for a very long time. It was argued that it wasn't any timelier that a layperson administered justice as a juryman/jurywoman. In der Schweiz wird auf nationaler Ebene per 1. Januar 2011 die neue Schweizer Strafprozess-Ordnung und die neue Zivilprozess-Ordnung eingefuehrt. Diese Gesetzes-Systeme sind dem kantonalen Recht ueberstellt, das heisst die nationale Rechtsordnung geht vor. Im Kanton Zuerich muss deshalb das Prozessrecht neu geregelt werden; dies fuehrt dazu, dass das Kassationsgericht und das Geschworenen- gericht abgeschafft werden muessen. Dies fuehrt zu einer Vereinfachung der kantonalen Gerichtsinstanzen im Kanton Zuerich. Das Geschworenengericht gibt es seit 1967 und das Kassationsgericht seit 136 Jahren; beide Gerichte galten jedoch seit langem als umstritten; es gilt nicht mehr als zeitgerecht, dass Laien als Geschworene Recht sprechen. Our Ryokan offers always breakfast, but only once the evening meal. We wanted to eat Okonomiyaki (Japanese style pizza); personally, I love Okonomiyaki very much. At home, I rarely eat Italian cooking; the cooking style is too rich (too much calories) for me. Okami-san of the Ryokan, kindly recommended us a local Okonomiyaki restaurant, where the Ryokan family goes from time to time. It is located inside the Dogo onsen district, and we went on foot first. On the way, we stopped at the 51st pilgrimage temple called <Ishiteshi>; however it was nearly dark. Upon our arrival, a Buddhist ceremony was going on; it was a memorial service for the Japanese journalist Kenji Nagai-san killed in Burma. The temple collected donations; people could make an origami for peace and donating some money. We made a donation and lit a candle.
