Later is was not possible to determine, in which of the wheel of cheese the metal part had fallen. The cheese dairy had an unusual idea how they could search for that item. They asked the authorities of the airport Berne-Belp whether they would allow to X-ray at their place with an X-ray apparatus for luggage seven wheels of Emmental cheese. The staff of the airport sent the cheese through the X-ray belt and they could quickly recognize on the display, in which of the wheel of cheese the metal part was in it. Thanks to that unusual approach, six Emmental cheese could be <rescued> and the metal part was again back. Bei der Kaese-Herstellung ist in einer Kaeserei fuer Emmentaler Kaese ein Metallteil (Spannfeder) in die Kaesemasse gefallen. Da sich nachtraeglich nicht mehr feststellen liess, in welchen Kaese- Laib das Metallstueck gefallen war, hatte die Kaeserei eine ungewoehnliche Idee, wie man nach diesem suchen koennte. Sie fragten den Flughafen Bern-Belp an, ob man dort sieben Emmentaler-Kaese- Laibe mit einem Gepaeckroentgen-Geraet untersuchen koennte. Die Mitarbeiter des Flughafens schickten den Kaese durch das Roentgen- Geraet und konnten dabei rasch auf dem Bildschirm erkennen, in welchem Kaese-Laib sich das Metallstueck befand. Damit konnten sechs Emmentaler Kaese <gerettet> werden und das Metallstueck war ebenfalls wieder da. On the whole about 28,000 tons of Swiss cheese went into export. Particularly demanded were Appenzell cheese, Emmental and Gruyere cheese; an increase was recorded regarding to the export of fresh- and soft cheese as well as for semi-hard cheese. The Swiss cheese is sold abroad as a so-called <Premium-product> (high-class product). Due to the difficult economical situation, the organization is satisfied with the present results regarding to the export of Swiss cheese. In den ersten sechs Monaten des laufenden Jahres wurden 1,4% mehr Kaese exportiert als in der gleichen Periode des Vorjahrs. Insgesamt wurden zirka 28 000 Tonnen Schweizer Kaese ausgefuehrt. Besonders nachgefragt wurden Appenzeller Kaese, Emmentaler und Gruyere; eine Zunahme gab es weiter beim Export von Frisch- und Weichkaese sowie beim Halbhartkaese. Der Schweizer Kaese wird im Ausland als so-genanntes <Premium-Produkt> (Erstklass-Produkt) verkauft. Wegen der schwierigen wirtschaftlichen Lage ist man mit dem bisherigen Resultat der Schweizer Kaese-Exporte zu frieden. He filled his position in Zurich from 1987 to 1991; in addition, he worked in the field of music in other positions at different places in Germany. After his return to Japan, he directed the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra; his favorite composers were e.g. Mozart, Verdi and Wagner. He was given prestigious awards on several occasions, among others he was awarded with the <Suntory Music Award>. Wie erst kuerzlich bekannt wurde, starb der fruehere Chefdirigent des Tonhalle Orchesters in Zuerich, Wakasugi Hiroshi am 21. Juli 2009 in Tokyo im Alter von 74 Jahren. Er bekleidete sein Amt in Zuerich von 1987 bis 1991; er war weiter auch in Deutschland an verschiedenen Orten musikalisch taetig. Nach seiner Rueckkehr nach Japan leitete er das Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra; seine Lieblingskomponisten war beispielsweise Mozart, Verdi und Wagner. European tourists reported that, while they were inside such shops, they were suddenly and without any reason accused of shop lifting! The people (tourists) were threatened by long court procedures, unless they pay a considerable high amount of money as a bail! Such cases shall have increased recently and based on an apparent systematic approach it could be possible that even policemen are involved in that matter. The Irish Government has already warned their fellow countrymen and asked them to be very careful when doing shopping at such places! It was reported, that tourists paid an amount of Euro 8,200 in order to be released. Thai media speak too of a possible systematic extortion. The airport there shall have a bad reputation in different respects; one refers to thefts of luggage, bad taxi drivers, who request overcharged fares etc. It is not known whether Swiss or Japanese tourists were affected too. Gemaess Berichten auslaendischer Medien sollen auslaendische Ferienreisende mehrfach des Diebstahls von Waren aus <Duty Free Shops> (Zollfrei-Laeden) am Flughafen Bangkok-Suvarnabhumi beschuldigt worden sein. Europaeische Touristen berichteten, dass sie beim Gehen in solchen Geschaeften ploetzlich und grundlos des Ladendiebstahl beschuldigt wurden! Den Leuten wurden lange Gerichtsverfahren angedroht, es sei denn, sie wuerden eine hohe Geldsumme als Kaution bezahlen! Solche Faelle sollen sich in letzter Zeit gehaeuft haben und aufgrund des systematisch erscheinenden Vorgehens koennte es sein, dass Polizisten mitbeteiligt seien. Die irische Regierung hat ihre Landsleute bereits gewarnt und aufgefordert beim Einkaufen dort sehr vorsichtig zu sein! Es wird berichtet, dass Touristen fuer ihre Freilassung einen Betrag von Euro 8200 bezahlt haetten. Thailaendische Medien sprechen ebenfalls von moeglicher systematischer Erpressung. Der Flughafen soll verschiedentlich einen schlechten Ruf haben; dies bezieht sich auf Gepaeckdiebstaehle, boese Taxifahrer, welche stark ueberhoehte Fahrpreise verlangten usw. Es ist nicht bekannt, ob ebenfalls Schweizer oder Japaner als Touristen davon betroffen sind. For that construction the State Funds of the Emirate provides a total of 15 billion US-Dollars. At the center of the new City, a district called <Swiss Village> shall be built; it shall be used by Swiss enterprises. For that matter, an appropriate contract was signed with the City of Masdar; the project is financially supported by the organization of Osec with 10 Mio. SFr. That amount will be used for the planning of the project; now, they look for investors which participate on the project of the <Swiss Village>. At a later extension of the City of Masdar, Swiss enterprises could receive orders with a value of several 100 million Swiss Francs. The opening of the <Swiss Village> shall already happen in two years; as from 2018 50,000 people shall live in that place. Das Emirat Abu Dhabi hat mit dem Bau der oekologischen Stadt der Zukunft namens Masdar in der Wueste begonnen; diese so-genannte <Oekostadt> basiert auf einem Konzept, welches keine fossilen Energietraeger verwendet, CO2-neutral ist und die Abfaelle ausschliesslich wiederverwertet. Fuer dieses Bauwerk stellt der Staatsfonds des Emirates 15 Milliarden US Dollar bereit. Im Zentrum dieser neuen Stadt soll ein Stadtquartier als <Swiss Village> entstehen, welches fuer Schweizer Unternehmen vorgesehen ist. Dazu wurde ein entsprechender Vertrag mit der Stadt Masdar unterzeichnet; das Projekt wird von der Schweizer Organisation Osec mit 10 Mio. SFr. unterstuetzt. Dieser Betrag wird fuer die Planung des Projektes verwendet; es werden jetzt Investoren gesucht, welche sich am Projekt <Swiss Village> beteiligen wollen. The project illustrates the origination of the Alps. In that context, the existing hiking trail <Via Alpina> shall be supplemented by information about that theme on a length of 65 kilometers. The overall stretch of the hiking trail goes from Trieste (Italia) up to Monaco. Switzerland is walked across on two routes by the <Via Geo Alpina>. Die Schweiz beteiligt sich am Projekt des internationalen geologischen Wanderwegs der <Via Geo Alpina>. Das Projekt erklaert die Entstehung der Alpenwelt. Since the year 1678, the villagers have promised to live virtuously and to pray against the growth of the glacier. In the past, the inhabitants in that valley were often affected by catastrophes, which were caused by the growth of the glacier and by floods of a mountain lake. Since 1862, the believers conducted on that purpose a six hours long procession every year; in the meantime however, too much ice has melted. The believers are now worried that without a glacier they might have no more water in the future. In the battle against climate change, they want to pray now for the growth of the glacier; for that reason they have sent a request to the pope. They hope for an audience with the pope in autumn and they wish that the pope is going to approve the modification of the vows. Die Bewohner des Dorfes Fiesch und Fieschertal wollen jetzt gegen den Rueckgang des Aletschgletschers beten; dazu brauchen sie jedoch zuerst die Einwilligung des Papstes fuer die Aenderung eines mehr als 300-jaehrigen Geluebdes. Seit dem Jahr 1678 haben sie darin versprochen tugendhaft zu leben und gegen das Wachstum des Gletschers zu beten. In der Vergangenheit waren die Einwohner des Tals wiederholt von Katastrophen betroffen, welche auf das Wachstum des Gletschers und der Ueberschwemmung eines Bergsees zurueckgingen. Seit 1862 fuehren die Glaeubigen dazu jaehrlich eine 6-stuendige Prozession durch; inzwischen ist jedoch zuviel Eis geschmolzen. Die Glaeubigen sind jetzt beunruhigt, dass sie ohne Gletscher in Zukunft kein Wasser mehr haben. Im Kampf gegen den Klimawandel wollen sie jetzt fuer ein Wachstum des Gletschers beten; dazu haben sie ein Gesuch an den Papst gestellt. Sie hoffen auf eine Audienz beim Papst im Herbst und wuenschen, dass der Papst der Aenderung des Geluebdes zustimmt. The focus on that professorship is based on the subject of orthopedics; in co- operation with the Schulthess-Clinic orthopedic technologies shall be developed. The professorship studies the questions about the aging of the locomotors system and with regard to that, problems such as osteoporosis, arthrosis, backaches and rheumatism are dealt with. The location of Zurich in the field of medical technology shall be promoted with that matter; that technology will have a major importance in the future. Die ETH Zuerich schafft dank einer Spende von zehn Millionen SFr. einen neuen Lehrstuhl fuer Medizintechnik. Der Schwerpunkt dieser Professur liegt auf der Orthopaedie; in Zusammenarbeit mit der Schulthess-Klinik sollen orthopaedische Technologien entwickelt werden. Der Lehrstuhl befasst sich mit Fragen zur Alterung des Bewegungs-Apparates und damit mit Problemen wie Osteoporose, Arthrose, Rueckenschmerzen und Rheuma. Der Standort Zuerich in der Medizintechnik soll damit gefoerdert werden; diese hat in Zukunft eine grosse Bedeutung. The City has a streetcar system, for a stranger like me traffic signals with additional arrows can be a bit complicated; I was in a question whether the indication was for the car or for the streetcar. Anyway, we finally made it. At the station, we boarded a local train for an excursion to the nearby <Kawara-Museum> (Kawarakan) located in Kikuma at the seaside. I love travelling with Japanese local trains; it gives you a real <slow life> feeling. I mean this in a very positive way; the journey took us about one hour by a <One- Man-Car JR train>. The town of Kikuma is very famous because of its unique <Kawara>. A visit to that place is recommended; the construction itself is very impressive. I have heard that the Imperial Household bought <Kawara-Tiles> from Kikuma; Kikuma has a history of 750 years for its tiles. The museum is just opposite the railway station, however, we went off the train to the wrong direction, walking first inside the town. I love the traditional Japanese houses covered with beautiful <Kawara-tiles>; these tiles are so beautiful, the roof corners are usually decorated with traditional symbols (e.g. dragon, etc.) We had an enjoyable time there. Back at Matsuyama, we boarded the streetcar from the station to Dogo-onsen. The public streetcar system is very convenient and efficient. We first went back to our Ryokan and then visited the Bamboo crafts shops nearby (Shotengai); there we bought some traditional handicraft items made of Bamboo for the kitchen and the household. There, real Japanese made handicraft is sold; the choice is enormous and the things are very carefully made. The shop called <Takeya-san> is really recommended for its Japanese bamboo crafts.
