The object of the revised agreement is about an extension of administrative assistance in tax matters based on the OECD- Standards. Those standards will allow an information exchange in tax matters on an individual case and by making a specific and justified request. Besides, tax exemptions (no withholding tax) have been agreed on dividends for important participations, on interests in the finance sector and royalty payments. The initialled agreement remains secret up to the signing by the Swiss Government (Bundesrat) and will then be published. Japan is already the eighth contry, with whom Switzerland has agreed on a revised tax agreement in the meantime. Die Verhandlungen zwischen der Schweiz und Japan ueber eine Anpassung des bisherigen Doppelbesteuerungsabkommen (DBA) aus dem Jahre 1971 konnten in Tokyo diese Woche erfolgreich abgeschlossen werden. Im revidierten Abkommen geht es grundsaetzlich um die Erweiterung der Amtshilfe in Steuerfragen basierend auf den OECD- Standards. Diese erlauben einen Informationsaustausch in Steuerfragen im Einzelfall und bei konkreter, begruendeter Anfrage. Es wurden ausserdem Steuerbefreiungen (keine Quellensteuer) auf Dividenden fuer massgebliche Beteiligungen, Zinsen im Finanzbereich und Lizenzgebuehren vereinbart. Das paraphierte Abkommen bleibt bis zur Unterzeichnung durch die Schweizer Regierung (Bundesrat) noch geheim und wird dann nachher veroeffentlicht. Japan ist bereits das achte Land, mit welchem die Schweiz inzwischen ein revidiertes Steuerabkommen abgeschlossen hat. The company <Waldesruh GmbH> sells there 40 graves at a price of Sfr. 4,850 (ca. Yen 420,000). The burial sites are located on an unique area with a panoramic view to the mountain of Saentis and further mountain peaks. The place is immediately available; so far burial graves in nature with an entry in the land register were not allowed in the Canton of St. Gallen. Im Kanton St. Gallen, auf der Alp Sellamatt mit Blick auf die praechtige Bergkette der Churfirsten gibt es jetzt den ersten Bestattungsort in der freien Natur mit einem Eintrag im Grundbuch. Das Unternehmen <Waldesruh GmbH> verkauft dort 40 Graeber zum Preis von Sfr. 4 850 (ca. Yen 420,000). Die Grabstaetten liegen an einer einmaligen Lage mit einer Panorama-Aussicht auf den Saentis und weitere Berggipfel. The details can be learned from the annual <13th World Wealth Report> by Merrill Lynch/Capgemini. Among that category are so-called <high net worth individuals/HNWI>, which have net financial assets of more than one million US Dollars (without real estate assets). Its number has decreased by 1,5 Mio. persons (-14,9%) onto 8,6 Mio. persons compared to the year 2007; the value of its assets has reduced even by 7,900 billion US Dollars (-19,5%) onto yet 32,800 billion US Dollars. In Switzerland, there are yet 185,000 Dollar-millionaires (-12,6%) and in Japan there are 1,366,000 Dollar-Millionaries (-9,9%). The rich Japanese kept 30% of their assets in cash. The most number of rich people lived in the USA, followed by Japan, Germany, China, Great Britain, France, Canada and ranked as number eighth was Switzerland. Die Finanzkrise zeigte Auswirkungen auf die Anzahl der <US-Dollar Millionaere> auf der ganzen Welt. Darunter fallen so-genannte vermoegende Privatpersonen (high net worth individuals/HNWI), welche netto (ohne Liegenschaftsbesitz) ein Finanzvermoegen von ueber einer Mio. US Dollar besitzen. Ihre Anzahl hat gegenueber dem Jahr 2007 um 1,5 Mio. Personen (-14,9%) auf 8,6 Mio. Leute abgenommen; der Wert ihrer Vermoegen reduzierte sich sogar um 7 900 Mrd. US Dollar (-19,5%) auf noch 32 800 Mrd. US Dollar. In der Schweiz gibt es noch 185 000 Dollar-Millionaire (-12,6%) und in Japan sind es 1 366 000 Dollar-Millionaire (-9,9%). (Quelle: news/NZZ/20minuten vom 25.06.2009) http://www.us.capgemini.com/worldwealthreport08/ 4) 世界初の超音波による脳手術 Brain surgery by ultrasonic/world premiere Hirn-Operation mit Ultraschall/Welt-Premiere (Mon. 22.06.2009 Smi) ツューリッヒ大学病院で研究者が初めて、高エネルギー超音波で10人の患者 の脳の手術を成功させ、世界初の成果をあげた。従来脳の手術は必ず頭蓋冠 を開かなければならなかった。研究者は国の研究計画（Co-Me）の一環で特 別な手法を開発した。この手術は2008年9月から行われており、麻酔無しで 施術する。その際患者は完全に覚醒しており、外来で受付ける。この技術は 現在更に改良が加えられており、将来例えば脳腫瘍、卒中発作等を超音波で 手術出来るようになる。この手術は、脳の一部を60度に加熱して壊死させる 方法に対して、電磁共鳴システムで施術する。 （出典：2009年6月22日付ターゲス・アンツァイガー紙） At the University Hospital in Zurich researchers succeeded for the first time to make surgery on the brain of ten patients by the use of high-energy ultrasonic; that is a world premiere. So far for brain surgeries, the skullcap had to be opened always. The researchers developed for that a special procedures within the scope of national research project (Co-Me). The surgeries took place since September 2008, whereas the intervention could be conducted without anesthesia, at full awareness of the patients and ambulatory. The technique will now be developed further, so that in the future e.g. brain tumor, stroke etc. could be conducted by ultrasonic. For the surgeries a magnetic resonance system was used, whereas the brain fragments were heated up to 60 grade and then killed. An der Universitaetsklinik in Zuerich gelang es Forschern erstmals zehn Menschen mittels Hochenergie-Ultraschall am Gehirn zu operieren; dies ist eine Welt-Premiere. Bisher musste fuer Hirnoperationen immer die Schaedeldecke geoeffnet werden. Die Forscher entwickelten dazu im Rahmen eines nationalen Forschungsprojektes (Co-Me) ein spezielles Verfahren. Die Operationen wurden seit September 2008 durchgefuehrt, wobei die Eingriffe ohne Narkose, bei vollem Bewusstsein der Patienten und ambulant vorgenommen werden konnten. Die Technik wird jetzt weiter entwickelt, sodass in Zukunft beispielsweise bei Hirntumor, Schlaganfall etc. mit Ultraschall operiert werden kann. Die Operationen erfolgten ueber ein Magnetresonanz-System, wobei die Hirnteile auf 60 Grad erhitzt und abgetoetet wurden. The two towns are located at the Neuchatel Jura region on an altitude of about 1,000 meters near the border to France. The two sites are unique witnesses of industralization and the development of the watch industry; from a simple topology of a village in the 17th century, they have developed from the 18th century into towns of the watch industry. The townscape and the architecture has hardly changed since the prosperity period of the watch industry. A famous inhabitant of the town is the architect <Le Corbusier>, who emigrated to Paris at that time. Die beiden Schweizer Uhrenstaedte <La Chaux-de-Fonds> und <Le Locle> im Kanton Neuenburg (Watch Valley) wurden am Wochenende neu in das Inventar des UNESCO-Welterbe aufgenommen. Die zwei Staedte liegen im Neuenburger Jura auf einer Hoehe von rund 1 000 Meter in der Naehe der Grenze zu Frankreich. Die beiden Orte sind einzigartige Zeugen der Industrialisierung und Entwicklung der Uhrenindustrie; aus der einfachen Struktur eines Dorfes im 17. Jahrhundert entwickelten sie sich ab dem 18. Jahrhundert zu Staedten der Uhrenindustrie. Das Stadtbild und die Architektur hat sich seit der Bluetezeit der Uhrenindustrie kaum veraendert. Ein beruehmter Einwohner der Stadt ist der Architekt <Le Corbusier>, welcher seinerzeit nach Paris auswanderte. It dates back to the battle of Solferino (Italy) on June 24, 1859; then the Swiss Henry Dunant from Geneva became the witness of a fearful battle with nearly 40,000 soldiers killed. Many of them were not killed in action, but died later on their injuries. There was far too little medical personnel in order to rescue and treat the large number of wounded people. The Swiss Dunant looked spontaneously for volunteers on site for the treatment and care of the injured. In the year 1864 based on that event, the <First Geneva Convention> was signed. A relay run from Geneva to Solferino is part of the celebrations of the 150th anniversary of that humanitarian organization. Das Rote Kreuz (IKRK) mit Sitz in Genf begeht in diesen Tagen den 150. Jahrestag seiner Gruendung. Diese geht auf die Schlacht von Solferino (Italien) am 24. Juni 1859 zurueck; damals wurde der Schweizer Henry Dunant aus Genf Zeuge einer schrecklichen Schlacht mit beinahe 40 000 getoeteten Soldaten. Vielen starben nicht direkt im Kampf, sondern spaeter an ihren Verletzungen. Es gab viel zu wenig medizinisches Personal um die grosse Zahl von Verwundeten zu bergen und zu behandeln. Der Schweizer Dunant suchte spontan Freiwillige vor Ort fuer die Behandlung und Betreuung der Verletzten. Im Jahr 1864 wurde basierend auf diesem Ereignis die <Erste Genfer Konvention> unterzeichnet. Ein Staffel-Lauf von Genf nach Solferino ist Teil der Feierlichkeiten zum 150. Geburtstag dieser humanitaeren Organisation. That was announced by the Japanese Minister of Finance Yosano Kaoru in Tokyo; according to his information, the loan shall be linked up to conditions. The loan, on which private banks participate too, will be guaranteed up to 80% by the State. The airline company suffered a loss of 63,1 billion Yen in the last fiscal year. Now, there are cost-cutting measures planned and 1,200 working places shall be abolished. Besides, JAL has to many costly (lossy) flight routes into the People's Republic of China, that shows the operating grade of an aggregated approximately 50%. Die Fluggesellschaft <Japan Airlines (JAL)> erhaelt ueber die staatliche <Development Bank of Japan (DBJ)> vermutlich im Monat Juni noch einen Kredit von zirka 100 Mrd. Yen (ca. 1,1 Mrd. Sfr.). Dies verkuendete der japanische Finanzminister Yosano Kaoru in Tokyo; gemaess seinen Angaben soll der Kredit mit Bedingungen verknuepft sein. Die Kreditvergabe, an welcher private Banken beteiligt sind, wird zu 80% durch den Staat garantiert. Die Fluggesellschaft erlitt im letzten Geschaeftsjahr einen Verlust von 63,1 Mrd. Yen. ETHZ: Bald bessere Hybrid-Motoren als in Japan? (Fri. 26.06.2009 Smi) 中国の科学技術大臣Wan Gang氏が今週連邦工科大学ツューリッヒ校と工業団 体「スイスメン」を訪問した。同大臣はドイツで工業技術を学び、その後10 年以上自動車製造業アウディ社で勤務した経験を持つ。スイスの技術に関心 を示しており、中国では持続可能な技術に大規模投資を行う計画がある。こ れは革新的なスイスの中小企業に機会が訪れる可能性を秘めている。ETHZの リノ・グッツェッラ教授は中国の訪問者に、現在流通しているモデルの80% の出力を持ちながら費用は20%(！)で済む、新しく開発されたハイブリッド・ モーターについて説明した。この著名な教授は、ハイブリッド・モーターを 有望視しており、現在流通しているモデルは高過ぎると考えている！その為 同教授と開発グループは新しい試作品を開発中で、製作費は僅か1,500スイス フラン（約13万円）と普通のエンジンよりも安価！燃費はトヨタのプリウス とほぼ同じ水準。（出典：2009年6月26日付ターゲス・アンツァイガー紙） The Chinese Minister for Science and Technology Wan Gang was on a visit to the ETH Zurich and the Swiss Industry Association <Swissmem> this week. He made his studies of engineering in Germany and worked afterwards more than ten years at the car manufacturer Audi. The minister showed interest into the Swiss technology because China intends to make major investments into sustainable technologies. That can be a chance for innovative Swiss SME-companies. The ETHZ- Professor Lino Guzzella explained the Chinese guest the newly developed hybrid-engine, which produces an 80% performance of the presently available models, however cost only 20%! The reputable professor considers hybrid-engines a good matter, only the available models are much too expensive! He and his members of staff have therefore developed a new prototype, which costs only just Sfr. 1,500 (ca. Yen 130,000) more than an ordinary (conventional) engine! Its usage (prototype) is nearly as good as that at Toyota Prius. Er machte sein Ingenieurstudium in Deutschland und arbeitete danach mehr als zehn Jahre beim Autohersteller Audi. Der Minister zeigte Interesse an Schweizer Technologie, da China in groesserem Umfang in nachhaltige Technologien investieren will. Dies kann eine Chance sein fuer innovative Schweizer KMU-Unternehmen. Der ETHZ-Professor Lino Guzzella erklaerte dem chinesischen Gast den neu entwickelten Hybrid- Motor, welcher 80% der Leistung der derzeit vorhandenen Modelle erbringt, jedoch nur 20% kostet! Der angesehene Professor erachtet Hybrid-Motoren als eine gute Sache, nur sind die erhaeltlichen Modelle viel zu teuer! Er und seine Mitarbeiter haben deshalb einen neuen Prototyp entwickelt; dieser kostet nur gerade Sfr. 1 500 (ca. Yen 130,000) mehr als ein herkoemmlicher Motor! Dessen Verbrauch sei beinahe so gut wie bei einem Toyota Prius. The outside temperature was around 7 degrees Celsius. We also like autumn season and then we enjoyed a delicious traditional Japanese breakfast. Afterwards, we checked out and went back to our previous accomodation for one more stay. Later in the morning, we had booked a Soba-making workshop at the Ryokan. Under the assistance and the instruction of the soba sensei, I could prepare my own soba made by locally grown sobako. It's hard work and difficult, but I was told that I was doing well. We could eat our freshly made soba later on at the restaurant of the Ryokan.
