After a construction period of 18 months (6 months less than planned), the tunnel cutting on the stretch between Erstfeld and Amsteg was successful; that section has a length of 7,2 kilometers. The final cutting of that section was achieved with a difference of less than one centimeter; now, 87% of the longest tunnel of world are broken through! The new Gotthard Tunnel has a length of 57 km; the whole tunnel-system includes 153,4 km and 133 km of it is now broken through. The Swiss Minister of Traffic was present on site at that historic moment and celebrated the event together with the workers. In his speech, he called Europe up <to build tunnels, otherwise you are going to suffocate in the exhaust gases>; the Gotthard Tunnel shall take up its operation upon planning in the year 2017. Presently, the Japanese <Seikan-Tunnel> with 53,9 km between the islands of Hokkaido and Honshu is the worldwide longest tunnel; in few years, it will be replaced by the Swiss Gotthard Tunnel, which is three times as long. In a press interview the beginning of June 2009, she was asked whether she would voluntarily agree to a wage sacrifice in favor of unemployed people; her answer was <Yes> provided the salary reduction was at least 10%. Now, she has renounced voluntarily of 10% of her salary, that is about Sfr. 40,000.--; a Swiss Federal Councilor earns about Sfr. 400,000 per year. With the money saved, an additional working place shall be created in her department; probably an unemployed academic person shall get the job. The new job is temporarily restricted to one year; it isn't yet clear, whether other government members are going to follow her example. The measure of Doris Leuthard is praised from different sides, even though it is just a symbolic action, but <Bankers> haven't even done such a thing. At her department 135 apprentices, 26 trainees and 104 academic trainees are employed. Der Schweizer Volkswirtschafts-Minister (Minister of Economics) Doris Leuthard laesst ihren Worten jetzt Taten folgen. In einem Presse- Interview wurde sie anfangs Juni 2009 gefragt, ob sie freiwillig zu einer Lohnreduktion zugunsten von Arbeitlosen bereit waere, wobei sie dies mit <Ja> beantwortete, sofern die Reduktion mindestens zehn Prozent betrage. Jetzt verzichtet sie freiwillig auf 10% Prozent ihres Lohns, wobei dies zirka Sfr. 40 000.-- entspricht; ein Schweizer Bundesrat verdient pro Jahr rund Sfr. 400 000.--. Mit dem gesparten Geld soll in ihrem Departement ein zusaetzlicher Arbeitsplatz geschaffen werden, welcher vermutlich von einem arbeitlosen Akademiker besetzt werden soll. Die neue Stelle ist vorlaeufig auf ein Jahr begrenzt; es nicht klar, ob weitere Regierungsmitglieder ihrem Beispiel folgen werden. The present company <Sumits> has a close business co-operation with the software group <SAP> and a branch in Germany. Presently, the whole workforce is about 15 persons, however the number of staff shall be increased to 100 or more people. The Indian enterprise is looking forward for additional takeovers and intends to be among the 50 major information technology companies by December. At the moment the <Idhasoft> group employs about 900 people, produced a turnover of 100 Mio. US Dollars and an operating profit of 6,8 Mio. US Dollars. Das indische Software-Unternehmen <Idhasoft> kaufte das IT- Dienstleistungs-Unternehmen <Sumits> in Zug und eroeffnete damit gleichzeitig den Europasitz des Konzerns in der Stadt. Das indische Unternehmen sucht nach zusaetzlichen Uebernahmen und moechte bis im Dezember unter den 50 groessten Informatik-Unternehmen sein. (Quelle: Neue Zuger Zeitung vom 19.06.2009) http://www.idhasoft.com/index.php 4) スイス人建築家、アクロポリス博物館建設 Swiss architect built the (new) Acropolis museum Schweizer Architekt baute Akropolis Museum (Wedn. 17.06.2009 Smi) 米国とフランスを拠点に活動しているローザンヌ出身のスイス人建築家、 ベルナール・チューミ氏の設計による新アクロポリス博物館が完成した。 2009年6月20日の土曜日に行われた開館式典には、ヨーロッパ各国の首相 やスイスのクシュパン文化大臣が列席した。計画・建築には11年以上を 要し、総工費はおよそ1億8,700万スイスフラに上った。新博物館は、主 に鋼とガラスが使われたユニークな建築で、博物館からはギリシャの首 都アテネのシンボルであるアクロポリスの丘が望める。3階建てで、総床 面積は2万5千平方メートル。（2009年6月17日付けnews.comより） The Swiss architect Bernard Tschumi from Lausanne, who has offices in the USA and in France, built the new Acropolis Museum in Athens; in presence of several European Heads of Government and States and the Swiss Minister of Culture Couchepin, the structure will be inaugurated ceremonially on Saturday, June 20th ,2009. The whole planning- and construction period took more than eleven years and the structure cost nearly 187 Mio. Sfr. The new museum is an impressive building, built by the majority of steel and glass material and it allows the visitors a view onto the acropolis, the landmark of the Greek capital. The museum has a surface of 25,000 square-meters and includes three floors. Der Schweizer Architekt Bernard Tschumi aus Lausanne, welcher in den USA und in Frankreich arbeitet, baute in Athen das neue Akropolis Museum; in Anwesenheit von verschiedenen, europaeischen Staats- und Regierungschefs und dem Schweizer Kulturminister Couchepin wird es am Samstag, 20. Juni 2009 feierlich eroeffnet. Die ganze Planungs- und Bauphase dauerte ueber elf Jahre und das Bauwerk kostete beinahe 187 Mio. Sfr. Das neue Museum ist ein eindrueckliches Gebaeude, welches mehrheitlich aus Stahl und Glas gebaut wurde und den Besuchern einen Blick auf die Akropolis,das Wahrzeichen der griechischen Hauptstadt ermoeglicht. The experience made from a pilot project shall demonstrate under which conditions the manufacturing of silk can be profitable. The rearing of silkworms was an important economic factor in the canton of Ticino Southern Switzerland up to the 19th century. Eine neu gegruendete Vereinigung von Schweizer Seidenherstellern mit dem Namen <Swiss Silk> moechte im Rahmen eines Projektes pruefen, ob es aus technischer Sicht machbar ist, in der Schweiz heutzutage wieder Seide zu produzieren. Die Erfahrungen aus dem Pilot-Projekt sollen zeigen, unter was fuer Bedingungen die Herstellung von Seide wirtschaftlich sein kann. Die Seidenraupen-Zucht war bis im 19. Jahrhundert im Tessin (Ticino) Suedschweiz ein wichtiger Wirtschaftsfaktor. (Quelle: Tages-Anzeiger vom 15.06.2009) http://www.swiss-silk.ch/ 6) 読み聞かせロボット「二宮くん」 Ninomiya-kun, Japanese book-reading robot Ninomiya-kun, Buch-lesender Roboter (Tue. 16.06.2009 Smi) 日本でロボット開発の可能性とアイディアには限界が無いようだ。早稲田大 学の情報生産システム研究科は、最近新しく読み聞かせロボット「二宮くん 」を発表した。新しいタイプのロボットは全く普通の紙に印刷された本の文 章を読むことが出来る。彼のカメラの目は日本語の文字（漢字、ひらがな、 カタカナ）2,000字以上を認識出来る。文章を話し言葉に置き換える作業を するコンピュータは小さい二宮くんの背中に搭載されている。日本語で 2,000字は未だそれほど多くは無いので、その程度の語彙ではいずれにして も簡単な子供の本か、初歩的な文章が読めるだけ。二宮くんの背丈はわずか 1メートルで重さは25kg。 （出展：2009年6月16日付複数のインターネットソース） Regarding to the development of robots, the possibilities and ideas seem to be unlimited in Japan. The <Waseda University's Information, Production and Systems Research Center (IPSRC)> introduced recently the newly developed book-reading robot Ninomiya-kun. The new kind of robot can read out text from completely normal books, printed on paper. With his camera-eyes he recognizes more than 2,000 Japanese characters (Kanji, Hiragana and Katakana). The conversion of text into spoken language is conducted by a computer, which the little Ninomiya-kun carries on his back. For Japanese circumstances, 2,000 characters are however not yet that many; with such a vocabulary one can read at the best a simple children's book or an elementary text. Ninomiya-kun has a size of only one meter and a weight of 25 kilograms. Bei der Entwicklung von Robotern scheinen die Moeglichkeiten und Ideen in Japan grenzenlos zu sein. Das <Waseda University's Information, Production and Systems Research Center (IPSRC)>, stellte kuerzlich den neu entwickelten Buchlese-Roboter (book- reading robot) Ninomiya-kun vor. Der neu-artige Roboter kann aus ganz gewoehnlichen, auf Papier gedruckten Buechern den Text vorlesen. Mit seinen Kamera-Augen erkennt er ueber 2 000 japanische Schriftzeichen (Kanji, Hiragana und Katakana). Die Umsetzung des Textes in gesprochene Sprache erfolgt ueber einen Computer, den der kleine Ninomiya-kun auf seinem Ruecken traegt. Fuer japanische Verhaeltnisse sind 2 000 Schriftzeichen allerdings noch nicht so viel; damit kann man allenfalls ein einfaches Kinderbuch oder Basistexte lesen. Internet Quellen) http://www.waseda.jp/ipsrc/ 7) 日本、閣僚辞任で衝撃 Resignation in Japan's Government shows impact Ruecktritt in Japan's Regierung zeigt Folgen (Fri. 19.06.2009 Smi) 最近麻生太郎総理の主要閣僚である鳩山邦夫総務大臣が辞任した。自ら辞任 したのか、辞任を求められたのか明らかではない！理由は日本郵政社長人事 に関する争い。鳩山邦夫氏は自ら率いる新党結成が出来る態勢になったよう だ。日本国民はこの出来事を不快に思っている。「共同ニュース」の最新の 世論調査は、政権与党の自民党に対する大幅な支持率低下を示した。それに よると、自民党の支持率はわずか17.5%で、民主党の支持率は38.5%に上昇し た。首相に相応しいのはどちらかという質問には、民主党の鳩山由紀夫代表 が50.4%で、現職の麻生太郎首相はわずか21.5%！前月比で自民党の支持率は 8.7%減少し、政権与党自民党の威信は著しく低下している。 （出展：2009年6月19日付NZZオンライン紙） Recently, an important minister, Hatoyama Kunio from the cabinet of Minister president Aso Taro has resigned. It is not known, whether he abandoned his post voluntarily or if he was forced to resign! The reason for it was a dispute about the manned assignment for the management of Japan Post. It seems that Hatoyama Kunio could establish his own new political party. The happening caused discomfort at the Japanese public. That was demonstrated in a recent opinion poll by <Kyodo News>, showing a massive loss in popularity for the Japanese Government party LDP. According to that, only 17,5% of the questioned people support the LDP, whereas the support for the Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) increased to 38,5%. Regarding to the question of a better qualification as head of government, 50,4% of the questioned persons said that it is the chairman of the DPJ, Hatoyama Yukio and only 21,5% mentioned the actual Minister President Aso Taro! Compared to the previous month, the popularity of the LDP has decreased by a high 8,7%; it seems that the prestige of the governing party LDP has suffered severe damage. Vor kurzem ist ein wichtiger Minister, Hatoyama Kunio aus dem Kabinett von Ministerpraesident Aso Taro zurueckgetreten. Es ist nicht bekannt, ob er freiwillig seinen Posten aufgab oder zum Ruecktritt gezwungen wurde! Der Grund dafuer war ein Streit um die personelle Besetzung der Leitung von Japan Post. Es scheint, dass Hatoyama Kunio eine eigene, neue Partei gruenden koennte. In der japanischen Oeffentlichkeit loeste dieses Ereignis Unbehagen aus. Dies zeigte sich in einer aktuellen Meinungsbefragung von <Kyodo News>, welche zu einem massiven Popularitaets-Verlust der japanischen Regierungspartei LDP fuehrte. Demnach unterstuetzen nur noch 17,5% der Befragten die LDP, waehrenddem die Unterstuetzung fuer die Demokratische Partei Japan's (DPJ) auf 38,5% stieg. Bei der Frage betreffend der besseren Eignung als Regierungschef, nennen 50,4% den Vorsitzenden der DPJ, Hatoyama Yukio und nur gerade 21,5% den aktuellen Ministerpraesident Aso Taro! Gegenueber dem Vormonat ist die Popularitaet der LDP um hohe 8,7% gesunken; es scheint, dass das Ansehen der Regierungspartei LDP einen schweren Schaden erlitten hat. (Quelle: NZZ Online vom 19.06.2009) http://www.dpj.or.jp/ http://www.hatoyama.gr.jp/ 8) 高校生が再び家庭科を学ぶ High school students learn again housekeeping Gymnasiasten lernen wieder haushalten (Sat. 20.06.2009 Smi) ツューリッヒ州では5年前経費節約の為高校の家庭科の授業を廃止した。ツ ューリッヒ州議会は3年後に国民発議の圧力で家庭科を再び教科に取り入れ る決議をした。現在最初の試験授業として3週間の合宿を実施している。学 生達は栄養と調理、工作、織物デザインの科目に加えて、新しく家事管理 の科目も習う。更に企画作業と、3時間の運動の時間が毎週ある。若い学生 達は田舎の、人里離れたところで、料理、掃除、洗濯とトイレ掃除も実習 する。学生の中には、料理を全くしたことの無い生徒もいるが、それでも 試験クラスは自発的に取り組んでいる。工作の科目では、穴あけ、ノコギ リ、研磨、ネジ取り付け、接着等を学ぶ。 （出展：2009年6月20日付ターゲス・アンツァイガー紙） At the canton of Zurich, the housekeeping courses for high school students were abolished due to financial reasons five years ago. The Parliament of the canton of Zurich decided then three years later, based on political pressure from a people's initiative, to re-introduce the courses for housekeeping into the curriculum. Presently, a first pilot course of three weeks within the scope of a boarding school system is conducted. The students are instructed the subjects of nutrition and cooking, handicrafts, textile design and newly in housekeeping-management. There is in addition a project work to be done and there are three lessons of gymnastics a week. The young students learn at the countryside, at a remote area, cooking, cleaning, washing, included is cleaning of toilets too. There are students who have never ever cooked; the pilot class is however motivated at work. At the subject handicrafts, they learn drilling, sawing, grinding, screwing and gluing. Im Kanton Zuerich wurden die hauswirtschaftlichen Kurse fuer Gymnasium-Schueler aus Spargruenden vor fuenf Jahren abgeschafft. Das Parliament des Kantons Zuerich beschloss dann drei Jahre spaeter, auf Druck einer Volksinitiative, die Kurse fuer Hauswirtschaft (Husi) wieder in den Lehrplan aufzunehmen. Derzeit wird ein erster Pilotkurs mit einer Dauer von drei Wochen im Rahmen eines Internats durchgefuehrt. Die Schueler werden in den Faechern Ernaehrung und Kochen, Werken, textiles Gestalten und neu in Haushalt-Management unterrichtet. Es gibt zudem eine Projektarbeit und drei Lektionen Bewegung pro Woche. Die jungen Schueler lernen auf dem Lande, an einem abgelegenen Ort, kochen, putzen, waschen, wobei Toiletten-Putzen dazu gehoert. Es gibt Schueler, die haben noch gar nie gekocht; die Pilotklasse geht jedoch motiviert an die Arbeit. Beim Fach Werken, lernt man bohren, saegen, schleifen, schrauben und leimen. The hotel manager went out to the forest to collect some fresh mushrooms, mainly fresh <Maitake> for the evening meal. The manager couple spoiled us with a very delicious meal with lots of local grown foods; among the dishes were Yasai tempura, Satsumaimo and the main dish was <Buta-Shabu-shabu>; the fresh mushrooms were pan-fried with some butter. There was an open fire on, making a cosy family atmosphere. After the gorgeous meal, we drank some nihonshu with the couple and talked about all the world and his brother.
