The smugglers traveled with Japanese passports on board a local railway train from Milan to Chiasso. They had hidden in a suitcase with false (double) bottom a total of 249 pieces of US Government Bonds each with a nominal value of 500 Mio. US Dollars and ten so-called <Kennedy-Bonds> each with a nominal value of one billion US Dollars. Presently, it is investigated whether the seized security papers are really genuine and the identity of the two smugglers, which shall be over fifty years old, is also under investigation. Die Schmuggler reisten mit japanischen Paessen in einem lokalen Eisenbahnzug von Mailand nach Chiasso. The most eaten was carrots, tomatoes and lettuce. Very popular was also onions, leek, zucchini and cucumbers. A total of 880,000 tons of vegetables was consumed in Switzerland in 2008; approximately 610,000 tons of it was fresh vegetables and 270 000 tons was processed vegetables. About 50% of the fresh vegetables is produced in Switzerland. About nearly 30 years ago, Swiss consumed only just 57 kilograms of fresh vegetables per head and year. The Federal Office of Health (BAG) recommends the consumption of 109,5 kilograms of vegetables per head of the population per year. Among the investigated worldwide 140 cities, the City of Geneva was ranked as number 8 and the City of Zurich was ranked as number 9 together with the City of Sydney (Australia). The City of Vancouver (Canada) was ranked as number one as the City with the worldwide highest quality of life. It reached 98 out of a possible 100 points. In Europe, Vienna (Austria) is the number one as the most liveable City; London (UK) reached only ranking number 51 and Rome was ranked as number 52. The criteria for the evaluation were among others medicare, culture, environment or educational facilities. Die britische Zeitung <The Economist> publizierte diese Woche ihre aktuelle Studie ueber die Lebensqualitaet in den einzelnen Staedten der Welt. Unter den insgesamt untersuchten weltweit 140 Staedten belegte die Stadt Genf Rang Nr. 8 und die Stadt Zuerich Rang Nr. 9 zusammen mit Sydney (Australien). Als Stadt mit der weltweit hoechsten Lebensqualitaet wurde die Stadt Vancouver (Kanada) ausgewaehlt; sie erreichten 98 von 100 moeglichen Punkten. In Europa ist Wien (Oesterreich) die Nummer 1 als lebenswerteste Stadt; London (UK) erreichte nur gerade Rang Nr. 51 und Rom Rang Nr. 52. Kriterien fuer die Bewertung waren unter anderem die Gesundheitsversorgung, Kultur, Umwelt oder Bildungsmoeglichkeiten. The enterprise adopted another method, which was based on cell culture. A first amount of ten liters of vaccine is already available; clinical tests are planned as from July. The mass production of the vaccine could be started in autumn 2009; for that purpose, production capacities are available at the plant in Marburg (Germany). There a total of several million of capsules of the new vaccine could be produced per week. In the USA, presently a second production plant is under construction in co-operation with the US Ministry of Health. Novartis has received alread orders from more than 30 governments for the supply of components of the influenza vaccine. Das Unternehmen wendete dafuer eine andere Methode an, welche auf Zellkulturen basiert. Eine erste Menge von zehn Litern Impfstoff liegt schon bereit; ab Juli sind klinische Versuche vorgesehen. Die Massenproduktion des Impfstoffs koennte im Herbst 2009 gestartet werden; dafuer sind im Werk Marburg (Deutschland) Kapazitaeten vorhanden. Dort koennten pro Woche einige Millionen Dosen des neuen Impfstoffs hergestellt werden. In den USA ist derzeit ein zweites Fabrikationswerk in Zusammenarbeit mit dem US-Gesundheitsministerium im Bau. The Swiss Minister of Economics, Mrs. Doris Leuthard emphasized the significance of that agreement for Switzerland; she expects the enactment of the agreement already for the beginning of August 2009. The Swiss export economy will benefit from that agreement; Japan is the fourth-biggest trade partner of Switzerland, after the EU, the USA and China. He intends to introduce the <Mobile Boarding Pass> within this year provided that the adequate tests will be completed successfully. The airline passenger asks by <SMS> (short message service) a bar code for his mobile phone; that code contains all the necessary information such as boarding time and seat number. At the <Boarding> no more printed document (boarding pass) is requested; the passenger can simply hold the display of his mobile phone on a reading device and board the aircraft. According to their own information, there are about 1,3 Mio. cats and about 500,000 dogs in Switzerland. In case the loved ones (pets) fall ill or suffer an accident, then it can become expensive for the owners of the pets. In case surgery is needed, then it could cost just like that 2,000 to 3,000 Sfr. and the stay at a veterinary hospital implies costs too. The annual premium for cats amounts to Sfr. 90 (ca. Yen 9,000) and for dogs to Sfr. 191 (ca. Yen 19,000); the insurance is a component of the household- and building insurance <MobiCasa Multirisk>. The company hopes to obtain with it new premium receipts; in Switzerland nearly every third household (about 1 Mio. clients) are insured at the <Mobiliar>. The expected additional premiums could amount to annually about 70 Mio. Sfr. ; besides the company wants to gain new clients from their competitors. They estimate an end of the recession by the end of 2010; the economy shall shrink this year (2009) by even 3,3%. In the next year, they expect still a slight decline of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by 0,6%. Due to the strongest economic slump since the seventies (70s), the number of unemployed people will increase to about 240,000 persons and the unemployment rate will go up to 6%. The private consumption will increase in 2009 therefore only by 0,2% and in 2010 a decrease of 0,4% is expected. Die Konjunkturforschungsstelle (KOF) der ETH Zuerich erwartet fuer die Schweiz erst ab dem Jahr 2011 eine wirtschaftliche Erholung. Sie rechnet mit einem Ende der Rezession per Ende 2010; die Wirtschaft soll in diesem Jahr (2009) sogar um 3,3% schrumpfen. Im kommenden Jahr wird noch mit einem geringen Rueckgang des Bruttoinlandprodukts (BIP) von 0,6% gerechnet. Wegen des staerksten wirtschaftlichen Einbruchs seit den Siebziger Jahren wird die Zahl der Arbeitslosen auf zirka 240 000 Personen steigen und die Arbeitslosenquote wird sich auf 6% erhoehen. Der private Konsum wird deshalb im 2009 nur noch um 0,2% zu nehmen und im 2010 wird ein Rueckgang von 0,4% erwartet. We took the natural trail on the right making a slight U-turn or round trip. There was no sign at all, as strangers we were in a question whether we moved the correct direction. Anyway, the path moved downwards, occasionally it was a bit difficult, but the forest was very beautiful. From time to time, we passed areas with deep green moss fields remembering us the rain forest of Yakushima island. It was almost like a fairy tale forest. As it was a weekday, there were hardly other hikers on the route. We were told that people come here to pick mushrooms. At around 2 p.m. we were back at laforet hotel where we checked in immediately. First, we made a small walk around the pond near the hotel.
