Particularly worth mentioning is the very low tuition fee, which is to be paid at the ETH Zurich. The study for one year cost only just Sfr. 1,400. That is an absolute <bargain price>. At the Yale University in the USA, the study cost about Sfr, 38,000 for one year and at the University of Cambridge in Great Britain it is Sfr. 23,500. The tuition fee at the ETH Zurich is therefore worldwide the most cheapest. Among the 100 top universities are two more Swiss leading Universities; ranked as number 50 is the EPFL Lausanne and ranked as number 68, the University of Geneva. Presently 20 people are employed and up to the year 2012, the workforce shall be increased to 49 employees. The enterprise considered several locations in Switzerland; it finally decided for the location of Berne due to its central location and the vicinity to the customers. The Swiss enterprise <Swisscom AG> has its headquarters in Berne too. (cash.ch vom 13.05.2009) http://www.huawei.com/ http://www.huawei.com/about/officeList.do#Switzerland 3) 釈放はスイス外交の成果 Free, thanks to Swiss diplomacy Frei, dank Schweizer Diplomatie (Tue. 12.05.2009 Smi) イラン人の父親と日本人の母親（明子）を持つ、米国籍とイラン国籍のジャ ーナリスト、ロクサナ・サベリさんが、今週の初めにテヘランの刑務所から 釈放された。32歳のサベリさんは、米国のためにスパイ行為をしたとして4月 18日、8年の禁固刑に処せられたが、控訴審で執行猶予付きの2年の刑に減刑 され、急に釈放された。ロクサナ・サベリさんの釈放にはスイスの支援が貢 献し、米国はスイスに感謝した。スイスは、長年イランにおける米国の権利 を代行している。スイス大統領は4月にジュネーヴでイランの大統領と会談し た際に、サベリさんの件に言及した。この会談に関し、スイスはいくつかの 国々やメディアから激しく批判されていた。 （2009年5月12日付けターゲス・アンツァイガー、オンラインより） The US-Iranian female journalist Roxana Saberi, her father has the Iranian citizenship and her mother Akiko is a native Japanese, was released from prison in Tehran the beginning of the week. The 32- years old US-Iranian national had been sentenced to eight years in prison due to espionage for the USA on April 18. Now, she was surprisingly released from prison after another court turned the sentence over into a two-years prison term on probation. The release of Roxana Saberi was made possible thanks to Swiss support; the USA have expressed their thanks for Switzerland's help in that case. The Swiss Federal President talked with the Iranian President about the case when they had met each other in Geneva in the middle of April. Switzerland represents the diplomatic interests of the USA in Iran already for years. Switzerland had been criticized strongly from certain countries and media for that meeting. Die US-iranische Journalistin Roxana Saberi, ihr Vater besitzt die iranische Staatsbuergerschaft und ihre Mutter Akiko ist eine gebuertige Japanerin, wurde anfangs der Woche aus dem Gefaengnis in Teheran entlassen. Die 32-jaehrige US-iranische Staatsbuergerin war wegen Spionage fuer Amerika am 18. April zu acht Jahren Gefaengnis verurteilt worden. Jetzt wurde sie ueberraschend aus dem Gefaengnis entlassen, nachdem ein anderes Gericht das Urteil in eine zweijaehrige Strafe auf Bewaehrung umwandelte. Die Freilassung von Roxana Saberi wurde dank Schweizer Unterstuetzung moeglich; die USA haben der Schweiz fuer Ihre Hilfe in diesem Fall gedankt. Der Schweizer Bundespraesident sprach anlaesslich seines Treffens mit dem iranischen Praesidenten in Genf mitte April ueber den Fall; die Schweiz vertritt seit Jahren die Interessen der USA in Iran. Seoul: Swiss, World Champion and Hero!! Seoul: Schweizer, Weltmeister und Held!! (Mon. 11.05.2009 Smi) 先週、スイス人のサーカス芸術家のフレディー・ノックさんが、ソウル（韓 国）で開かれた「第三回綱渡り世界選手権2009」で、綱渡り世界チャンピオ ンになった。漢江の上、高度30メートルの地点に安全網なしに張られた長さ 1キロメートルのロープを、ノックさんは、唯一バランスを取る棒なしで10分 17秒で渡り、世界チャンピオンとなった。それだけでなく、ロープ上でパニ ックに陥り、助けなしでは渡れなくなった二人のアーティストを救助した。 この行為のために、ノックさんはソウルで英雄と賞賛され、政府から感謝状 を送られた。 （2009年5月11日付けターゲス・アンツァイガー、オンラインより） Last week, the Swiss Circus artist Freddy Nock became High-Wire Acrobat World Champion on the 3rd < Hangang High-Wire World Championships 2009>, which took place in Seoul (South Korea). The high wire was spanned over the Han river in an altitude of 30 meters from the ground without a safety net. He crossed the high wire of one kilometre (1,000 meters) as only acrobat without a balance pole in 10 minutes and 17 seconds; that meant the World Champion title. That was however not yet all; the courageous Swiss rescued two acrobats, which got into an emergency on the high wire and couldn't move on without help. He was celebrated as hero in Seoul for his achievement and he received a thanks document by the Korean government. Letzte Woche wurde der Schweizer Zirkuskuenstler Freddy Nock, Hochseil-Akrobat-Weltmeister an der 3. Weltmeisterschaft (The Hangang High-Wire World Championships 2009), welche in Seoul (Suedkorea) statt fand. Das Hochseil war ueber den Han-Fluss, in einer Hoehe von 30 Metern, ohne Sicherheitsnetz gespannt. Er ueberquerte das Hochseil von einem Kilometer (1000m) als Einziger ohne Balancier-Stange in 10 Minuten und 17 Sekunden; dies bedeutete den Weltmeistertitel. Dies war jedoch nicht alles; der mutige Schweizer rettete zwei Artisten, welche auf dem Hochseil in Not gerieten und nicht mehr ohne Hilfe weitergehen konnten. Fuer seine Tat wurde er in Seoul als Held gefeiert und er bekam eine Dankes-Urkunde der Regierung. The mentioned wealthy people are so called <mobile wealthy>, persons, which hold a major fortune and are not tied to a certain place. Among that category are for instance lawyers, entrepreneurs and doctors; despite the discussion about the bank client confidentiality and the tax dispute with the EU, Switzerland is the most attractive (popular) financial centre of the world for such kind of people. The ranking list of the financial centres is as follows: No. 1 Switzerland, No. 2 London, No. 3 Singapore and No. 4 New York. Switzerland offers such kind of people everything (they need); economic and political stability, a first- class education system and infrastructure etc. Eine Studie des Vermoegensverwalters <Scorpio Partnership> in London zeigt, dass das wohlhabende Personen London verlassen und in die Schweiz umziehen. The Swiss (special) paper factory <Landqart AG> with headquarters in Landquart (GR) presently thinks about to triple their production capacity! The enterprise is the exclusive supplier of banknotes paper to the Swiss National Bank (SNB); besides, the company produces for the European Central Bank and other National Banks. The liberalization of the monetary policy led to an increased demand at such (material) suppliers and producers. Besides, in the crisis and due to the very low interest rates, cash (banknotes) as means of payment and investment has become increasingly demanded! In the fight against counterfeit, banknotes are yet more rapidly modernized. The turnover in the field of <safety paper> increased by 36% from 2007 to 2008 at that Swiss company. In 2007, the company invested into a new production line (machine) and increased its capacity by 60%; that was an absolutely successful action. Die Finanzkrise hat positive Auswirkungen auf die Hersteller und Lieferanten von Banknotenpapier. Die Schweizer Papierfabrik <Landqart AG> mit Sitz in Landquart (GR) ueberlegt sich derzeit ihre Produktions-Kapazitaet zu verdreifachen! Das Unternehmen liefert der Schweizer Nationalbank (SNB) exklusiv Banknoten-Papier; ausserdem wird fuer die Europaeische Zentralbank und weitere Nationalbanken produziert. Die Lockerung der Geldpolitik fuehrte zu einer stark erhoehten Nachfrage bei solchen Lieferanten und Produzenten. Soon, the EU-citizens are going to elect a new EU-Parliament and on that occasion, an Internet- tool is used, whose technology is originated widely from Switzerland. That system corresponds to the Swiss <Smartvote>. At the EU, the orientation guide is called <EU-Profiler>; it allows politically interested citizens, to establish a profile according to his political interests, within ten minutes. As result, he gets the names of political parties, which correspond to his expectations and ideas; the result is displayed with a so-called <Spider-chart> (Spider net). Thanks to the use of that system, the EU-citizens can inform themselves about the election system, the parties and the parliamentarians. (Thu. 14.05.2009 Smi) 新聞の大見出しで、日本の主婦が弱い円を賭ける、と書かれた。日本の家庭 では伝統的に女性がお金を管理していので、ここでは主婦が個人投資家と呼 ばれた（RBCキャピタル・マーケッツによる）。4月末迄にこうした投資家 153,000人が1,250億ドル規模の契約をしている。これは2008年10月以来最も 多い契約数。これらの個人投資家が利益を手にするのは、日本円が他通貨例 えばオーストラリアドルやニュージーランドドル又はユーロ等に対して値下 がりした場合。金融危機で個人投資家が相当な額を損失したにも関わらず、 又もや高利の投機的な為替取引を始めている。 （出典：2009年5月14日付cash.ch） The headline was: Japanese <housewives> bet (gamble) on a weaker Japanese currency (Yen). <Housewives> meant here private investors; in Japan, the women traditionally manage the money in the family, that's why that expression is used (according to RBC Capital Markets). By the end of April, such investors held 153,000 contracts with an amount of 125 billion US-Dollars; that was the highest number of contracts since October 2008. That private investors will earn money (make a profit) in case the Japanese currency (Yen) will lose in value against other currencies such as e.g. the Australian or the New Zealand dollars, the Euro etc. Even though private investors have lost considerable amounts of money based on the financial crisis, they still have started again to speculate in higher interest bearing currencies. Die Schlagzeile lautete japanische <Hausfrauen> wetten auf eine schwaechere japanische Waehrung (Yen). Damit sind hier private Investoren gemeint; da in Japan in der Familie traditionell die Frauen das Geld verwalten, wird diese Bezeichnung verwendet (gemaess RBC Capital Markets). Ende April hielten solche Investoren 153 000 Kontrakte im Umfang von 125 Mrd. US-Dollar; dies war die hoechste Anzahl an Kontrakten seit Oktober 2008. Diese privaten Investoren werden Geld verdienen, falls die japanische Waehrung (Yen) gegenueber anderen Waehrungen wie beispielsweise dem australischen oder neuseelaendischen Dollar, dem Euro usw. an Wert verliert. Obwohl private Anleger in der Finanzkrise erhebliche Summen verloren haben, fangen sie jetzt wieder an mit hoeher verzinslichen Devisen zu spekulieren. Nevertheless, we had enjoyed our one day hiking trip very much, we felt comfortably tired. Our guide was still very fresh and fit, he drove us by car to the famous <Kazura bashi>, which we hadn't visited before. We walked down to the entrance gate of the bridge, which was originally made of a twine plant; it is a suspension bridge and the distance between each step is fairly large. It was moving and you could look down to the bottom of the gorge. We stepped on it, but only 2 to 3 meters and then went back. We were a bit afraid and too tired to challenge that adventure. Some lively Japanese high school students, males and females cross over without any obivous fear.
