The 110 cherry trees are a present of a Japanese visitor dating back to the year 1975. He was so enthusiastic about the City of Berne, that he made the City such a great present. According to the Berne City garden master, cherry trees can reach an age of 100 years; the cherry blossom will however again soon fade away. Im Park <Rosengarten> in der Stadt Bern bluehen derzeit japanische Zierkirschen-Baeume in voller Pracht und verbreiten eine <kleine> japanische Kirschblueten-Atmosphaere. Die 110 Kirschbaeume sind ein Geschenk eines japanischen Besuchers aus dem Jahr 1975. Er war von der Stadt Bern so begeistert, dass er der Stadt dieses grossartige Geschenk machte. Gemaess dem Berner Stadtgaertner koennen Kirschbaeume 100 Jahre alt werden; die Kirschblueten werden allerdings schon bald wieder verwelken. The plant was built by the <Zermatt mountain railways> and the electric power company <BKW>; per year, it produces 37,000 kilowatt hours of electricity. That is the equivalent of electricity used by twelve households. The solar cells produces the double amount of electricity as similar plants at lowlands; the reason for that is the strong reflection of sunbeams in the snow, the low temperatures and the low air pollution. The solar plant cost 600,000 Sfr. and is located on the restaurant <Matterhorn glacier paradise>, which was built according to the latest construction method (Minergie-Standard). Auf der Schweizer Bergspitze <Klein Matterhorn> wurde diese Woche die weltweit am hoechsten gelegene Solaranlage in Betrieb genommen; sie befindet sich auf einer Hoehe von 3 883 Metern ueber Meer und hat eine Flaeche von 170 Quadratmetern. Die Anlage wurde von der <Zermatt Bergbahnen> und der Strom-Gesellschaft <BKW> erstellt; pro Jahr produziert sie 37 000 Kilowatt-Stunden Strom. Dies entspricht einem Verbrauch von zwoelf Haushalten. Die Solarzellen erzeugen doppelt soviel Strom wie vergleichbare Anlagen im Tiefland; der Grund dafuer liegt in der starken Rueckstrahlung der Sonnenstrahlen im Schnee, den tiefen Temperaturen und der geringen Luftverschmutzung. Initially, in particular prominent people chose Switzerland for a medical stay; in the year 2002, King Fahd of Saudi Arabia had medical treatment in Geneva or Silvio Berlusconi in 2003 at Ticino. Japanese Judokas shall have get infected by Judo sportsmen from South America. In the meantime, thousands of Judokas in Japan are affected by the aggressive fungal skin infection; hit are one third of all <Dojyos> and half of all teams at High Schools. Often, the infection is initially undiscovered or erroneously diagnosed as ordinary dermatitis. According to <Asahi Shimbun>, the fungal skin infection takes six months when treated with medicinal shampoo and a fungicidal cream. On the occasion of the annual conference of the Japanese dermatologists of the coming weekend, that matter should be addressed. Ein Hautpilz namens <Tryptophyton tonsurans>, verwandt mit dem Fusspilz wurde im japanischen Judosport erstmals vor acht Jahren festgestellt; japanische Judokas sollen sich bei Judosportlern aus Suedamerika infiziert haben. Inzwischen sind Tausende Judokas in Japan von diesem aggressiven Hautpilz befallen; betroffen sind ein Dritter aller <Dojos> und die Haelfte aller Teams an Mittelschulen. Oft bleibt die Infektion anfaenglich unentdeckt oder wird irrtuemlich als uebliche Hautentzuendung diagnostiziert. Gemaess <Asahi Shimbun> dauert der Hautpilz bei einer Behandlung mit Medizinal-Shampoo und einer fungiziden Salbe sechs Monate. Anlaesslich ihrer Jahreskonferenz werden sich die japanischen Hautaerzte (Dermatologen) am kommenden Wochenende mit diesem Problem befassen. The new planet was given the identification of <Gliese 581e>; it could be observed by an instrument (HARPS) built at the University of Geneva and integrated into a telescope at the European South Observatory Eso in Chile. The so far used political system with an indirect democracy shall be intensified by citizens rights based on the Swiss model. In the future, the inhabitants could submit initiatives for law and constitution by the means of collection of signatures and votes about them. Besides, a party-independent constitution board should undertake a full revision of the constitutional law originated from colonial times. It was about a 40 minutes drive on a winding mountain road through an intact beautiful nature. People, preferring not to hike, can board a simple open air chair lift up to a view point of 1,730 meters above sea level. The place there is called <Tsurugian tozan lift Nishi-jima eki>. Our small hiking group of three, set off; the trail which led first up a long stone stairs passing the local shrine (Tsurugi jinsha) where we made a brief stop praying for a safe journey. Then the comfortable nature mountain trail goes into a (not thick) forest flowed by light and cheered by birds singing; it leads up to the mountain by a light zigzag path. We walk slowly uphill, stopping here and there to watch birds or flora (flowers and trees). From time to time, we met others hikers on the way up or down.
